The Buckeyes continue to haul in talent on the recruiting trail.
Another big recruiting weekend for Ohio State, another pair of Buckeye commitments. It seems to be the norm these days for Ryan Day and his staff, as they have put together the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class with still more work to be done. These past few days were another step in the right direction, with a pair of in-state prospects joining Ohio State’s 2025 class.
The first commitment of the weekend was three-star wide receiver Bodpegn Miller. The tremendous athlete earned a scholarship offer from Brian Hartline less than a week ago, and wasted no time joining the Buckeyes’ class.
Miller hasn’t been a highly sought after player from the bigger programs across the country, holding offers from the likes of Boston College, Iowa State, Northwestern and a few other others in the Division I ranks. He also holds offers from three Ivy League schools in Harvard, Penn and Yale. But that all changed this month — at least from an Ohio State perspective.
Miller first turned heads at camp on June 13, standing out to the point that Hartline had him return for a 7-on-7 camp on June 18. There, after just one game with the house team, Hartline pulled him aside and extended the Ohio State offer on the spot.
“It definitely feels amazing,” Miller told Eleven Warriors after earning his offer. “It’s been a dream of mine since I grew up an Ohio State fan. It’s just a dream come true. All glory to God. Ever since I picked up a football when I was eight years old, I’ve been wanting to get this.”
Miller plays quarterback for Ontario (Ohio), but is a classic case of a school putting its best player at QB and letting the rest shake itself out. Still, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound talent threw for over 2,300 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 1,000 yards and another 17 TDs as a junior. Miller has actually only played wide receiver for four months, but that is exactly where Hartline wants him after watching his performances at Ohio State camps over the last two weeks.
Not the typical blue chip prospect the Buckeyes have landed under Hartline, it was clear that the raw athleticism and size were too much to pass up. Miller has a fantastic story, getting adopted by his family at five years old from Ethiopia and moving to Mansfield, Ohio just before his sixth birthday. Now, he will get to continue his football career at his dream school with the best position coach in the nation to help hone his skills.
The other commitment for Ohio State this weekend was at a major position of need. On Sunday, 2025 three-star offensive lineman Jake Cook announced his pledge to the Buckeyes.
The No. 39 IOL and No. 21 player in Ohio, Cook had been committed to Louisville since the beginning of February, but de-committed from the Cardinals on June 18 — one day before officially earning an offer from Justin Frye and the Buckeyes. Cook grew up rooting for Ohio State, but had to do a lot of work to finally earn an offer from the program. Once that offer eventually came, it was an easy choice to make his commitment.
“It’s a huge blessing for me, it’s every Ohio kid’s dream to be a part of the Buckeyes,” Cook told Eleven Warriors. “I’m excited to wake up and compete against the best and get coached by the best every single day. It’s a blessing and I’m ready to work. It really didn’t hit me (I had the offer) until I woke up the next morning. I was like ‘Oh God, this really happened.’”
Here is what Allen Trieu of 247Sports had to say of Cook's game:
The commitments of Miller and Cook give Ohio State a total of 18 commits (291.10 overall rating) in its 2025 class thus far, maintaining a lead over Alabama (268.36) for the No. 1 group in the country with the same number of commits. Miller gives the Buckeyes three wide receivers, joining Quincy Porter and De’zie Jones, while Cook is the second OL commit alongside offensive tackle Carter Lowe. Ohio State has already surpassed its 2024 class (289.10) in terms of overall rating despite having five less commits and more to come.

Here is what Allen Trieu of 247Sports had to say of Cook's game:
“Has experience at tackle, but projects to the inside in college, with center a very likely landing spot. Has done an excellent job of re-shaping his body and getting quicker. Plays with tenacity, demonstrates violence with his hands and plays to the whistle. Still can continue to work on explosiveness and agility but has made great strides in those departments. Has excellent intangibles and those qualities along with his development trajectory should make him a safe bet to contribute in college and work his way into a starting position.”

- On Sunday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong logged an RPM prediction for Zion Grady in favor of Ohio State. Grady, the No. 6 EDGE and No. 66 player nationally, is coming off an official visit with the Buckeyes. He is the No. 6 player out of Alabama, and would be a huge addition to Larry Johnson’s room.
