The Buckeyes add a massive defensive piece to No. 1 ranked 2025 class.

Ohio State is dominating the college football recruiting rankings, and if it keeps at this pace, the Buckeyes could secure one of the best classes in recent memory.

Following a massive recruiting weekend featuring a handful of targets taking official visits to Ohio State — which resulted in the Buckeyes adding two in-state commits to its 2025 class — Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff continued to reap the benefits of their hard work this summer.

The Buckeyes started the week off with a BOOM, as 2025 four-star edge Zion Grady (Enterprise, AL / Enterprise) announced his commitment to Ohio State.

Grady is the 19th member of Ohio State’s top-ranked 2025 recruiting class. He is also the third defensive line commit for the Buckeyes, joining the likes of four-star edge Zahir Mathis and four-star DL London Merritt. Defensive line is a position of importance for the Buckeyes in this year’s cycle, and adding Grady to the mix was a huge piece of the puzzle.

Grady first received and offer from the Buckeyes in February of this year, shortly after he decommitted from Alabama following Nick Saban’s retirement. Grady was able to make his first trip to Ohio State in May for a recruiting camp and liked what he saw. So much so, that he scheduled an official visit with the Buckeyes for this past weekend.

His official visit went as well as possible, and just one day after his weekend in Columbus, Grady announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State is still looking to add to its defensive line haul, and one of its top prospects, four-star DL Mike Autry, now looks more likely — albeit not by much. Autry is committed to Auburn, but the Alabama native is close with Grady and the Buckeyes could be more in play. He celebrated Grady’s announcement on X.

Other recruits Ohio State is looking along the defensive front include Mariyon Dye, Jarquez Carter, Damien Shanklin, and Trajen Odom. Of this group, it seems the four-star DL Odom is the most likely to join Ohio State’s class.

Grady is the No. 6 edge prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and he is the No. 66 overall prospect. He is also the No. 6 recruit out of Alabama.

  • Switching from the gridiron to the hardwood, Jake Diebler and the Ohio State men’s basketball team was also making headlines on Monday. The Buckeyes saw two blue-chip recruits include them in their updated top-schools lists.

  • Ohio State has long been viewed as the leaders for 2025 four-star running back Jordon Davison. He took his official visit to Ohio State this past weekend, but news following the visit is not all positive for the Buckeyes.

On Monday, Ohio State insider for 247Sports Bill Kurelic removed he prediction for Davison in favor of the Buckeyes. This does not mean the Buckeyes are completely out of the running for Davison, but it does feel like Davison is leaning more towards schools like Michigan, Oregon and Alabama.

Ohio State has two RBs committed in its 2025 class already in four-star Bo Jackson and three-star Isaiah West, but the Buckeyes are looking to add likely three members at the position to this year’s class.
