Let me preface this by saying that I believe that Bonds knowingly took steroids, its unforgiveable, and that he's also a first class jackass.
Having said that, I think the answer is Rose every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Bonds didn't even break a rule.. or... at least... didn't break a rule that was enforced in any way.
Not condoning what Bonds or anyone else did... but... to some degree baseball as a whole is complicit in this recored being broken. Its a convergence of Bonds undeniable talent... and in "Baseballs" desire to generate fan interest after the 94 strike... (You can add Juiced ball to this list)... there was an interest in generating offense and a desire to look the other way at the use of performance enhancing substances (McGwire told everyone flat out he used Andro) , the Union wanted to have no testing at all, and there was in my opinion a bit of a smaller strike zone for some time... at any rate... (There are an awful lot of good pitchers out there all of the sudden)
The standoffishness of Selig during this whole thing always amused me, because I felt like he had as big a part as anyone in creating the conditions for this to happen the way it did.
Of course... if he hadn't been so injured, Griffey Jr. Might have been knocking on the door pretty soon here, and A-Rod... well.. is in good position to pass Bonds... so... whatever... I tend to think this number doesn't stand long.
