Bombarded with commercials

  • Just got done recording "A Year Without a Santa Claus" for a friend, and started editing out the commericials. Holy shit. The amount of commercials is unreal (commercials in blue):

If my math is correct, there was 33:30 worth of commericials and 85:15 of program (plus or minus a few second each), which is over 28% of airtime being for commercials. Take off the initial 17 minutes of the show, and 33% of the rest of the broadcast was commercials...

unfortunatley commercials are how the money is made and the bills are paid... take my newscasts... my Sunrise show is an hour long.... we have 8 breaks at roughly 2 minutes/15 seconds each for a total of 17 minutes/25 seconds or about 27% of the show. Around election time our breaks are bumped up to 3 1/2 minutes long.

This is also why the sales people make all the money and the people that actually put the News on the air make squat... we also joke that the news is just something to keep people occupied inbetween commercials.

I'd say the most difficult thing to believe is that someone actually wanted to watch "A Year Without Santa Claus".

At least you aren't limited to AFN "commercials".:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

No shit...those were the worst. Still, at least they weren't every other minute. Then again, nothing is a bad as having the watch the Redzone Body Wash commercial every fucking break on GamePlan in 2004...I still refuse to buy that shit.

Every "hour long" TV show, that I've ever watched on DVD, is approximately 45 minutes long. I rarely watch any non-sporting-event live anymore. I can get episodes of my shows a day later than they air, off of various sites, or I can just catch up when the DVD is released a couple of months after the season ends.
