Bold statements from Carp

Bobby Carpenter quoted in the PD:

"If we would have played like this against Iowa, we probably would have beaten Iowa," Carpenter said. "If we would have played this way against Wisconsin and Northwestern, we probably would have beaten them."

You folks think that's true? To paraphrase JaxBuck, color me unconvinced.

Good to see the optimism, but I'm going to need to see a solid showing against a quality opponent before I share it (I guess you could say I fall into the "it was only Indiana" camp). Especially when you consider how thoroughly overmatched we looked against Iowa, you'd have to believe that we were a tremendously improved team yesterday (apart from who we played) than we had been the week before, in order to make those picks above. I hope you're right.

If the situation were reversed; if we punked Iowa, and then they went out and punked Indiana the following week, and claimed that they'd have beaten OSU if they would have played us the same way, I'd have no choice but to laugh at them.

Northwestern - Yes
Iowa - No
Wisconsin - No

Penn State - If we get lucky
Purdue - We get to be on the bitch side of a prison raping
MSU - We might win, if it was at home, but its not and things might get ugly.
scUM - We get embarrassed at home, and SluttNutts will want to lynch JT.

Make no mistake I hope I am wrong, but IU doesn't mean that all of a sudden Jim Bollman knows how to coach, and that he teaches our linemen how to block all in the course of one week. No, it just means that IU sucks.

I would like to see Carp start assuming some of the vocal leadership on the defense the way Wilhem did.

Fox fulfills that role now - but he's been hurt - and with him graduating - I want to see next years leaders emerging as soon as possible.

This does not diminish Hawk's role of a leader on defense - he just appears to be a man action more than words - and I think every team needs both.

Doesn't matter what we think or what the reality is...

If the kid has that confidence and the team can get the swagger back without the complacency, good things will happen

A great ending to this tumultuous season? Spoiling scUM's hopes.
