They are taught to wrap up. all of these big hits the guy rarely if ever wraps up. If the ballcarrier is able to stay on his feet, he won't be tackled.

Ok, so they wrap which is what we are taught early on. The question still remains, where do they lead into them with their shoulder in that situation? They could potentially injure them very easily on that play when they are that close, no matter where they hit them.

I think you are missing what I'm saying.

They are putting themselves into the dangerous situation. Tackling and hitting is part of the game.

but if they are going for just hard hits and not wrapping up, it's dangerous AND counter-productive.
