Fuck Ice Cube.

Dont turn this into a race issue, if you want to then google some Ice Cube quotes. He wasnt stereotyping, just pointing out facts about Ice "I hate whitey" Cube.
I have followed IC since the early 90's when he was still with NWA and continued through that split and into his solo career. For someone who hates IC so much you sure do take quite an interest in him.

The original quote wasn't to insight the race card, it was this...

Its co-produced by Ice "I hate whitey" Cube. So you can imagine its intent.

So far it just seems cheesy and everyone is playing to the well known stereotypes.

I bolded those parts to show hypocrisy of the post

ie I wouldn't watch it if it is just about all the well known stereotypes, but the co producer is a gangster rapper so he is "I hate whitey". What amazes me about it is that back then more so than now it was about street cred, wonder how many albums that move ignoring the white person sold. Would you feel different if the same show was produced by Dre? Eminem? 2pac(if he was still alive)? Russel Simmons?

Again you've missed the point. Its not my opinion that Ice Cube hates white people, its his own opinion. He's said it and declared it a million times. With that inarguable fact in place, its not a stretch to refer to him in that manner.

No hypocrisy in the post whatsoever.

My gf was watching this and I was in the room workign on a paper for class so I picked up a bit but not all. It seemed as if they picked the typical black parents who think that all whites are racist no matter what they do.

And the white couple is naive and thinks there is no racism or doesn't understand why a black person would get pissed when they are called ni----. The father at one point said to the black father...well I don't understand if someone comes up and calls me ni---r I would jsut be like yeah, and just be cool about it. It's just a word.

The son doesn't seem to care, and the daugther seems more concerned about upsetting people when they find out she isn't really black.

Overall I can't beleive they made this a series.

You don't believe race is as big an issue today as it was 35 years ago? Really?

No offense, but I see you where born in 1971. You missed a lot of the 60s and 70s, much of the whole fight against racism and intolerance in general.
Even though we as a country seem to to re-visiting these topics.
And we seem to have to re-visit the whole Vietnam thing , too.
Apparently, we have fore gotten the lessons learned.:(

Because I was born in 1971, that means I can't have an understanding of things that happened pre 1970?

Thanks for selling me short.

yep, thats my take as well. they picked the most stereotypical two families they possibly could. the black father is your a-typical angry black man while the white father is dense. the only part of the show that was even semi revealing for either family was the group survey they did with the opposite race while in make up. hearing other peoples perspectives and experiences with their race. the white father even found a way to screw that up. thus far this has seemed extremely bias driven to prove a specific point that white people are racists. hopefully im wrong, but thus far the only hope of anything positive coming out of this are the two children. both seem fairly with it.

*shrug* personally i can't wait for the black parents in white makeup to be called racists (anti black).

Didn't see it, not planning on seeing it. But then, I don't need to see a television show to know that people are racist.

excellent point, as much as I try and want to believe I am not, I find myself bitching about Spanish instructions at the ATM, and the mexican influx in the Central Ohio area. I don't care who you are, there is a little bit of racist in everyone (unless you are truely blind, and I would expect even then most of the time). Nobody wants to admit it, but it is there.
