Big Ten Football: Week One

scarletngrey11

All right, all right, all right.
Its early, but we all learned alot today. Ohio State obviously has to be the favorite for the Big 10 title right now, Iowa might have been one of their toughest games. I'd put Michigan State behind them because of their explosive offense, it should be interesting to see how they look against a decent defense though. Penn State had their hands full with a mediocre Northwestern team, giving up 29 points! Purdue, who was foolishly picked by many media sources, already has a lost this year. Wisconsin could be a player this year, I believe that their running back, Brian Calhoun is a top 5 back in the country, at the worst. scUM's defense looks worst this year than last year, and their offense has been inconsistent, they will be lucky to end up in the top-3 of the conference. Illinois and Indiana, well.... they are still Illinois and Indiana....

:oh: :io:

I like the "program" idea.

In the movie, the guy carries the ball around campus all the time, and if someone knocks the ball out and anyone comes to practice with the ball other than the guy, than hes in deep shit...

Let Brandon run goal line for the scout team. I believe the No.1 D could give him a crash course in holding on to the football.IMHO he just needs al the carries he can get to feel comfortable..Remember, he's been blocking most of his time here

My good friend's boyfriend is roommates with Big Schnitt and aparently after the game he's been feeling really down. So, gotta feel bad for the kid...good blocking all around and then one bad play when he totes the rock. Hope he cheers up!

ohio state should be like my hs football team(Beechcroft), starting a couple weeks ago we put one of our O-line guys at FB, he's about 275-280 i believe(i don't care what you say, thats big for a high school player), changed his # from 50 to 99 and we put him in short situations and goal-line situations, last night(friday) he had atleast 1 td(may have been 2, can't remember), we really just put him in there for extra blocking, he's basicaly a extra lineman on the field to block, we scared the shit out of East High when they saw our 280 lb. FB come on the field, that may have been why we beat them 37-0

when i played at newark high school, we had a contraption called the gauntlet. it was a steel frame, with old tires interlocked. it was about five (maybe more) yards long, the rbs had to run through it with the ball. seemed to work for us.

In his defense, last week Schnitker fumbled trying to stretch the ball out- totally his fault. Yesterday he was carrying the ball perfectly in both hands into contact and Abdul Hodge just made a terrific play. Schnitker will probably make it harder on himself than anyone else could. I don't want to see him getting treated like Hamby did after Texas. Brandon will get it turned around.

Good point. The fumble against SDSU was also on first down. You stretch it on fourth, maybe even third - but that was dumb on first down. Yesterday you can fault him for not having the arm strength to hold onto the ball, but he you can 'blame' the players who were pushing from behind for that fumble as much as Schnitker.

If you want to talk about sloppy turnovers talk about Smith.

Didn't Dionte move from center to FB as a senior in HS? That kid is a load and he has been underused this season.
