Big 33 Superbowl Streak still intact

  • I was wondering about the ol' 'Every Superbowl has had alum from the Big 33 game' streak, so I did some checking. Unfortunately, the Big 33 site is a bit outdated, but from what research I did, it looks like the streak is intact. The Big 33 site only goes through SB XXXVIII, which was in 2004. Not positive if there were any Big 33 players in last years game, but it looks like Ty Law was still with the Pats, so I suppose the streak continued last year.

I then went through the Big 33 rosters year by year, and quickly came across Big Ben, who played in the Big 33 in 2000. So, without having to look any farther, it appears the Big 33 Superbowl streak is still alive!

I admit that my knowledge of Big 33 is pretty slim, but I thought that there were a bunch of years with no game. It was only re-instated 12-15 years ago or something. Am I thinking of something else, or am I just plain ol' stupid about this?

If I'm not mistaken, Penn was playing another state in those years. It was still the Big 33 even though Ohio was not involved.
