The only reason I can think of is because everything was originally scheduled assuming there would be only 11 games with an allowed bye week. Since next year starts being able to play 12 games the only opening was during the bye week which by chance was after the first conference game.
I am sure future schedules will not have this issue as there is more time to juggle dates.
Also am I the only one wondering why Bowling Green gets to play again? I thought the original plan was a cycling of the MAC schools. Why does BG get to change that? Dang it, I want to see my alma mater come back to Columbus. Would love to see Frank Solich and my Bobcats come back to the shoe.
