Better movie?

I vote for I. Although the Deniro aspect of II is better than anything in I, the Hymen Roth story and Michael in front of Congress was pretty boring. The final shot of Michael sitting in the chair by himself juxtaposed with the image of him as a baby in his father's arms in the train station is powerful though.

Anybody mentions III, they get dinged. Although Michael confessing his brother's ("mother's son") is a nice scene.

I have to go with Part I, but it doesn't win by much. Part I has so many memorable lines and scenes, I don't think any movie ever made can compare with the exception of its sequel. My favorite scene is when Carlo (having been admitting his part in Sonny's death) gets into the car and Clemenza casually says "Hello Carlo" right before he strangles him. The casual manner of the entire sequence is one of the classic moments in film. Unfortunately, Part III is a complete disgrace.

I used to think I liked II better, but then I saw them again and realized all the scenes I liked that I thought were in II were in fact in the original (complicated huh). So I'll go with the original.

I kinda like II better, that is the one where Michael really starts to get evil. In I he is still pretty much an innocent. Nothing like offing your brother to prove a point. It's all good though, Fredo was a pussy.

as far as the movies go, i went with the original.

HOWEVER, i cannot think of The Godfather in terms of the movies. i always look at them in their pure form, which is that of The Godfather as written by Mario Puzo. the book encompasses both movies, and IMHO, is better than either one of them individually, and also better than both of them combined.
