“Sweet BBQ.”

In Cleveland, my personal favorites would be Il Rione (NY-style/artisan), Vero (Neapolitan) and Geraci’s.

Back when I went to OSU, Adriatico’s and Donato’s were my go-to’s. I need to try Paulie Gee’s in the Short North next time I’m in town, as I’ve read great things about it as well.

My brother lives in Chicago and some of my favorites there have been Pat’s in Lincoln Park (tavern style), Pizzeria Bebu (artisan), Lou Malnati’s and Labriola (both deep dish).

Best chain pizza, IMO, is Jet’s. Love to order a Detroit four corner with pepperoni cups and pickled jalapeños. Drizzle some Mike’s Hot Honey on it and you’ve got a damn good night in. Also, despite its Ann Arbor roots, I’m a total sucker for Domino’s and don’t care who knows it.

Sorry to interrupt this pissing contest but I have a cool story bro about pizza. I met this guy from Cleveland Heights that moved to Denver in the mid 80s. He worked at various restaurants, but he was a great Italian cook that learned from his grandmother. His name was, wait for it, Vinnie. His dream was to open a by the slice pizza shop where people could walk up and by a slice and then be on their way, just like in his home town. His secret was his pizza sauce which he made with chicken necks and Roma tomatoes. I have never before or since tasted a sauce so good. He finally opened his pizza shop and it was amazing. Unfortunately, Denver wasn’t ready for it and he closed it up after a year. I hope he was able to make a go of it later. Good guy and amazing cook.
