Best National Classes by Position

This is a breakdown of what schools snagged the best group of players this year by position, JMHO, of course.

QB-Georgia Aaron Murray, plus another highly ranked QB from in-state Zach Mettenburger=best QB class. Kentucky also had a nice group w/ Morgan Newton and Jeff Mossakowski, a highly coveted QB from Texas.

RB-Alabama-they signed the #1 back in the country, Trent Richardson, plus another stud in Eddie Lacy from Louisiana. Miami could be #1 here if Bryce Brown signs w/ them and Lamar Miller qualifies-but neither one of those things is close to a given. tOSU is a wildcard here, depending on how much of the real deal Carlos Hyde is.

WR-tOSU-if Corey Brown plays WR, tOSU has the best group of incoming WRs in the country. I think Chris Fields is being overlooked in this class-w/ his size, his game is speed. LSU and Georgia signed Randle and Brown, respectively, but no other school signed a mind blowing group,IMO.

OL -Texas- Paden Kelley,Mason Walter, and Thomas Ashcraft are all elite prospects staying home w/ the Horns'-Kelley and Walters might both be in the top 5 OTs nationally. Florida signed a good group as well, w/ Xavier Nixon and Nick Alajajian.

DL-LSU- DE Sam Montgomery from SC is ranked very highly, and the Tigers snagged their usual quota of in-state swamp monster DTs, plus Akieem Hicks, a JUCO stud. FSU, Oklahoma and tOSU each scored a very nice inside-out combo w/ Jacobbi Mcdaniel/Demonte McAllister, Jamrkus McFarland/Justin Chaisson, and John Simon/Melvin Fllows.

LB- Alabama-Nico Johnson,Petey Smith, Jonathan Atchison, and Tana Patrick might be the best group in the country. Oklahoma has a nice group as well, led by Tom Wort-a less under the radar Tyler Moeller type.

DB- the state of South Carolina had 5 of the top 15 safeties in ESPN's final rankings, and the Gamecocks signed every one of them, including 3 of the top 6, and 2 of the top 3. LSU signed Craig Loston-Guiton's teammate-the #1 S in the country, and two really good CB prospects in Jackson Jansen and Drayton Calhoun, plus Russell Shepherd could easily play WR or S. Miami signed a whole posse of fast, physical CB prospects. tOSU has studs in Wood,Clarke, and Barnett, but could have used more, especially if Corey Brown plays WR.

Overall, it seems like recruiting was more dispersed this year-not as many eye popping position groups-the top teams spread the positional wealth more,IMO
