Best mp3 players?

I don't know anything about the standard MP3 players. I like the ones that hold mp3 cd's. You can fit 200 songs per disk and the player will only run you 40-50 bucks. The one I got at Walmart even tells you the file name.

Depends on what you are looking for. Is size most important to you? Are you looking at iPod-sized storage?

Manfred has the Samsung Yepp, which is really small and nice for jogging. I think it holds about 2 CDs worth of music. The software it came with sucks, but once you figure it out it's fine. I have the Dell Digital Jukebox, which many people will argue is not as good as the iPod, but I like it a lot. It's a bit bulky, but I just use it for my subway commute and for long car trips.

If I were you, I would probably break down and get an iPod or the Dell equivalent, especially if you have a huge music collection.

I have the Yepp, too, sushi. The one I have has 64 MB of space, but I store my files in .WMA most of the time, so it holds about 2 cds. I love the software, though.. it installs your mp3 player as a virtual drive, so all you do is drag and drop your files into it. Takes about 30 seconds to reload the entire player if you format it first.

It was like 40 bucks, and I like it, although I can't really hold it because I don't like the texture of it. I just keep it in my pocket. I'm weird, I know. :(

The Apple iPods are the fucking best thing ever invented.

The top model holds 40 gigs I think, which is about 10,000 songs!

Or, you can get the cheaper iPod mini, which holds about 1,000 songs for half the price.

iTunes is a great media library that comes with your pod, updating your songs and organzing them are simple. Plus, there are some games on the iPod itself if you ever want to use it for any purpose other than listening to music.

mp3 players are definitely the best thing to have here on campus.

I agree with Rick James, iPod is by far the best, even with the battery issues...

Best interface, and good storage... they have them as big as 60GB (WOW) color screens available (photo iPod)....

Only way I wouldn't suggest the iPod is if you are primaraly going to be jogging with it.. then you almost have to go with a flash based player... (or wait a few months, as the rumor is that they are releasing a flash based iPod)

I have an iPod and I have one very serious concern - it holds so much music I can't find the time to organize it all.

I have loaded it with all of my favorite songs from my favorite CDs (100s of CDs), complete copies of all of my wife's Broadway musicals (20 or so), some of my Grandson's favorite kids songs, OSU marching band music, and a few dozen CDs I haven't had time to listen to yet. It isn't half full. It will completely change the way you think about storing music. Sound qulity is great and you can use it to drive your home stereo. You can also buy an arm band attachment that lets you jog with it.

I have the Samsung Yepp as well. Mine's the 128MB version, and it usually holds about 25 songs or so. Like the others said, the software isn't bad once you get used to it (takes maybe 5 minutes max). I like it particularly because of its compact size and the belt clip it has. It's also cheaper than alot of other models. I use mine running and I really can't have anything bulky (iPOD) to worry about. I also don't like the models that have the arm-band (Nike) - it just doesn't feel right to me.

Hmmm, the one i use now is the cd version but it has issues, i primarily use it for my car (cassette adapter) and when i work out.. ipod sounds good ill have to see how big it really is though some of you seem to think its awful bulky... thanks everyone..

BuckeyeSoldier, they also make the iPod minis, which (obviously) are a bit smaller (and less expensive). If you can get it in a non-sissy color, then that might be better for working out.

If you were using a CD based MP3 player before, the iPod will not be an issue..

Also, whereas the mini iPod is smaller, it isn't a huge difference and for like $25-50 more you go from 4GB in the mini to 15GB or 20GB on the regular iPod.

I do highly suggest getting some sort of *skin* or case for an iPod though as the back can get scratched up easily as can the screen.
