Best Album Past 30 Years?

Oh. Were Openin' up a can of whoop ass here. It is a fact, that Soundgarden was the face of the Grunge era With AIC closely behind. Had it not been for Woods' OD in 90', there probably would not have ever been a Pearl Jam. Temple of the Dog, whatever. Nirvana and (if you want to include them) STP were simply tagalongs that were more representative of what the commercial echelon were willing to tolerate until Facelift and Badmotorfinger, and even at that, were late being accepted in to the mainstream.

I agree here. Three GREAT albums in a row. In my opinion, more tragic than Cobain.

Very interesting that you bring up Cobain.

Nowell stated on numerous occassions that he was inspired by Kurt Cobain. He even went as far to justify his own heroin habit by pointing out the success and acclaim Kurt achieved while being a heroin junkie. Brad was certain heroin use enhanced the creative process and pointed again to Cobain's achievements.

Both men suffered from ADD as children and were prescribed Ritalin to combat it. Both of their widow's believe it predisposed them to heroin addiction as adults.

And the last parallel between the two is that they both carried a great amount of guilt about their parents divorcing when they were children.

I'm still amazed by the Robbin' the Hood album, done on Bradley's four-track. That was a big fuck you to everyone who thought he was a sell-out. *cough* Sugar Ray *cough*

The Biggest difference is that, in their music, Nowell eluded to heroin as a struggle and something that was to be overcome, whereas Cobain seemed to refrain from talking about it as much. The fact is that Nowell knew what was going to kill him, Cobain just knew that he was going to die.

I still weep for his family. I think that Bradley Nowell is one of the greatest creative minds that we have had the HONOR of being subjected to in the past 20 years.

No doubt. The foreshadowing in Pool Shark is eerie.

I, of course, am just messing around when I argue my opinion as fact :)

Pearl Jam is, and always will be my favorite band, and I think it is a stretch to say that Badmotorfinger was better than Ten... If you were arguing that Superunknown or Down on the Upside were better, then I would listen, but eventually disagree with you. (For the record, Down on the Upside is my second favorite album of all time).

One of things I will always regret not getting a chance to see Soundgarden or AIC before it was too late. Sure, AIC is back together and planning a US tour, and I plan on seeing them, but it wont be the same without Layne.

I think if there is anything in music that could probably give me an instant orgasm, it would be Soundgarden reuniting and doing a co-headlining tour with Pearl Jam. Chances of this are slim, because Kim Thayil is a dickhead, and Matt Cameron would have to work double time. Also, Chris is losing his voice, you can tell if you have seen or heard any live clips from Audioslave recently.

I saw Chris on the Euphoria Morning tour at the Newport, and it was probably in my top-3 concerts ever.
