Bengals talk with Griese's agent
BY MARK CURNUTTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER
<!--ARTICLE BODY TEXT-->The Bengals talked Monday to Brian Griese's agent, and Ralph Cindrich said he and the Bengals will talk contract again today.
Cindrich also is talking with the Chicago Bears about the veteran quarterback.
The club did not hammer out the final details of its agreement on a two-year contract with wide receiver Antonio Chatman, who caught 49 passes for the Packers last season.
Also, various reports suggest that former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington is talking seriously with the Bengals and coach Marvin Lewis about a free-agent contract.
Efforts to confirm the reports through agents Carl and Kevin Poston's and Arrington's publicist Monday were not successful.
I'm hoping for exactly that, or else a good draft pick or FA signing. As for the interceptions, give our guys credit for keeping their eyes open and breaking well on the ball. But also keep in mind that 15 of those happened in 3 games against (inferior) NFC competition (Vikings, Packers, Bears).Yet opposing QB's gave up 31 INT's to the Bengals for the year.....Their D does need a rusher that can get more than 6 measly sacks, though, (*cough Justin Smith cough underachiever cough*) maybe Pollack can do it next year?

My gut says they won't match the offers that Griese will get, and that Harrington will be considered "overpriced". I still think we will ultimately settle on Jamie Martin. The recent article from bengals.com does mention Harrington as an alternative interest from Griese, but I'm not sold. Wasn't one of the problems with Harrington the fact that there would be the 9 Million existing contract?
This is what I don't understand... We've just signed doug johnson and we've also got krenzel on the roster, but now the bengals are using all their time and energy on finding another qb. If they didn't think johnson or krenzel could handle the job w/ palmer being down, then why in the hell did they sign them? We've got more pressing needs on the defensive side of the ball that needs taken care of and do we really need another qb if they are so sure that palmer is going to be back for the opener, like they are claiming?....
