California fired basketball coach Ben Braun on Wednesday following another disappointing season in which the Golden Bears missed the NCAA tournament.

The Bears made the NIT, where they were knocked out in the second round by Ohio State on Monday night.

I am honestly not sure why they rid themselves of Joplin, he was coach of the year last year with a championship in his respective whatever.

I also recall seeing them in the big dance at east 2 times (maybe) since Joplin was their coach.

The Rockets are investing some 30 million on renovations for the Bball team..

but still, one losing season, and he gets the boot, there had to be something else going on there.

Braun had success @ EMU, he would be a good fit for Rockets IMO.

I think the knock on Joplin is that he isn't a great salesman for the program. With the renovations up there it sounds like they want someone who's going to work the media, boosters and fire up the fan base. It's a shame he got fired because from all accounts he's supposed to be a great person.
