Let's see, I've got a converted chest freezer with 6 taps of homebrew, two wine fridges (red and white) and another chest freezer I use as a fermentation chamber for my homebrews. And I still need to get one more chest freezer for long-term lagering.

You don't count, you are a professional. :wink2:

Yeah, I got a chest freezer I am going to put a collar on and use for fermentation, the summer heat is going to make it very difficult to keep my temps ideal for fermentation.

Obsessed is more like it. If I were a professional I'd be taking in some revenues, but all I do is spend money and give away my beer - not a good business plan.

That's what I did for my kegerator, it's fairly simple to add a collar and drill a few holes for your taps. But I just added a temperature control thingy to my other chest freezer to dial in my fermentation temps - no other modifications were neccesary. I've found that controlling your fermentation temps is critical to making good beer.

So all you home brew fanatics, what is the viability of re-using the Grolsch bottles for home brew. Do they seal well enough?

I've used them before when I used to home-brew. For the most part they seal fine, but count on one out of 10-12 to leak enough to where the beer won't ferment properly.

Just go to your local homebrew supply store and buy new gaskets. They are really cheap and well worth not wasting beer. You should bea ble to get a couple uses out of the originals though.
