Some years back when I was living in Cincy they fumigated my entire building because the people who lived above me became infested with them.

When the exterminator explained the situation to me I actually laughed..."Bed bugs?! Really?"

I didn't think they were still a problem in this day and age.

Travelers spread them by putting their suitcases on the bed or soft furniture. The rise is attributed to the banning(in this country) of DDT based bug sprays. (wonder if it's an issue in Mexico?)

knock on wood I haven't had problems with them, but columbus is having huge problems with them right now. Campus has them really bad, and a few of the hotels have run into problems. The problem is it takes very high heat to kill them so you have get water hot enough so that you sterilize everything. I've heard movie theaters are a place where they can spread easily also.

New York and Ohio are the biggest hit states. Lots of states have this problem but they are spreading fast in other states too.

I manage a 111 unit motel. I know we have spent about 16K this year alone trying to tackle the problem. Pest control company says it will keep bedbugs away for a year.

I know that EPA and State of Ohio Health Dept had two meetings on this issue. Last one was on Aug 18 and don't know what the results of that are.
