Bears +5.5 at Packers (ov/un 51.5) Thu 8:20 ET, NFLN

Aaron Rogers is not his MVP self. He sucked in the preseason and he sucked against the 49ers. The Packers defense can't stop the run, and judging by last year, they can't stop the pass. I'm no Bears fan, but they have improved their offensive weaponry, and their defense has always been good. Matt Forte will run up and down the Packer defense, and Jay Cutler is no Alex Smith. However, if their offensive line can't hold up against the Packers pass rush, then that will be the Bears downfall. But overall, I think the Bears pull it out.

Pretty good analysis. It is imperative that the Packers run the ball and run it well. Otherwise teams are just going to do what the Giants and 49ers did: drop the safeties back. Jermichael Finley is also going to need to have a big game.

I have given up on the Packers defense.

We are all entitled to our own opinions but sucked? He may not have been great on Sunday but he threw for near 300 yards and 2 tds vs a damn good defense. The problems with green bay is no running game, jennings is banged up, finley is inconsistent catching passses and the defense once again is unreliable.

Don't need to run the ball to win games in this league... You need to execute a near flawless passing game, which Rodgers did last year and when he got hot in the playoffs in 2010. While he went over 300 yards, he had to throw it 44 times to get there. That's less than 7 yards per attempt, which is not good. He also looked quite rattled in the pocket and made some errors that we didn't see too often last year. While I shouldn't have said he sucked, he certainly looked a bit sub-par.

However, it is true that his receivers don't look nearly as reliable as years past. What was with all the drops? I was surprised because usually they catch everything that's thrown their way. They certainly need to get that fixed if they want to fair well against a turnover savvy defense.

They had the drops in their playoff game against the Giants. Finley has always had trouble hanging on to the ball. They are definitely going to need to fix that moving forward.

finley drives me freaking nuts! talks all kinds of trash but then drops sooo many 3rd down conversions

id say he looked rattled because his receivers are dropping balls so that puts that much more pressure on the next pass to be even more perfect. coupled with the fact sanfran is a pretty good squad

We'll know soon enough whether Greg Jennings is playing tonight or not (Listed as doubtful). Jordy Nelson has to have a big game if he doesn't play. James Jones is a solid receiver, but It will be more interesting to see what the Packers do with Randall Cobb. Either way, like mentioned above, they need to establish some sort of running game. They can't afford to be one dimensional & let Rodgers get pressured consistently like he was last week.

All that being said, I'd have to go with the Packers tonight at home. San Fran make them look quite pedestrian last week, but they are a pretty darn good team & make almost every team look that way. Chicago hasn't won at Lambeau since 2007 & have only beat Green Bay once in the last seven games.

exactly! if jennings plays the packers should win but if he doesn't all bets are off. Defense needs to make big plays tonight. Cutler will throw some up for grabs (sounds like an old packers qb) so our db's need to catch them. dline and lb's (matthews!) need to pressure the qb but maintain discipline so that forte doesnt go off for 150.

Cutler is 0-2 at Lambeau throwing 1 TD & 6 INT's. He's a gunslinger so you know he'll throw some questionable balls that are forced. I think he'll be much improved this time though, now that he has a legitimate go-to receiver in Marshall, with whom he's had great success with in the past (Last week as well). Alshon Jeffrey, despite being a rookie, also poses a threat to the secondary because he's a big target with good physical skills.

Stopping the run will be just as crucial to stopping the pass tonight. Forte & Michael Bush pose a dangerous 1-2 punch. Bush is obviously a great short yardage/goal-line type guy, but Chicago gave him 12 carries last week (Forte had 16 carries), which leads me to think they will probably give him quite a few tonight as well. If they can stop the Bears running game, I think they will be in great shape tonight because Chicago's pass blocking was atrocious the past two seasons & Cutler notoriously panics under pressure.
