BCS formula changes...again

Like JT and others have said - the season is a playoff. In order to successfull select a playoff field, you'd need to do something similar to what it'd take to successfully fill out the BCS field in the current system. Why not just get the selection process right, and not diminish the importance of the regular season?

I bet JT wasn't complaining about playoffs "dimishing the importance of the regular season" in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997, and 1999. As I've said before, the regular season would still be just as important as it is now because it would determine where you're seeded in the playoffs, much like it currently determines which bowl you go to.

Mili,

The playoff seeding based on the regular season would be meaningful if they had the higher seeded teams host the games. That's a real tough sell given the current Bowl structure.

I'd love to see a playoff game in the 'Shoe. But if seeding just decides whether we play in LA, Miami, San Diego, New Orleans or Tampa I can't get too enthused about it. There's not that much difference between #5 and #8 in most years.
