Baylor moves to dismiss lawsuit claiming 52 rapes over 3-year period

Baylor has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit claiming 31 football players committed 52 rapes over a 3-year period from 2011-14. The school is citing the expiration of the statute of limitations and that the allegations do not meet the level of “deliberate indifference,” according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.

The suit was initially filed in late January who anonymously claimed she was raped by then-Bears football players Tre'Von Armstead and Shaymichael Chatman in 2013. Armstead and Chatman have both been indicted for that incident. Armstead was arrested earlier this month in Las Vegas in charges of resisting arrest in addition to the 2013 case.

Fifty-two representing the number of women who could bring themselves to acknowledge the rape occurred.

Oh, and, just in case anyone was wondering...

Thanks, Lassie. I just downloaded Brile's words to my Little Orphan Annie Secret Decoder Dial. Here's what he was actually saying:

Them crowds wuz going wild. It got so loud I couldn't hear nuthin' but 'hutt - hutt and thud.'

Weren't none of them reporter folks there. How d' they know what happened?

You try winning 10 - 11 games a year with a bunch of real Baptists.

You know, some of them girls want to be with a really good football player. They wanna be part of what's happenin'. They get excited, maybe a little carried away, and then they start thinkin' a day or so later and that's when the, 'I said 'no' but he didn't act like he heard me" stories start gettin' cooked up. And then they call their parents, and then they bring in lawyers, and pretty soon it's a whole circus going on in the AD's office. An' you think that's bad, they try and boot that ol' ball up to Ken Starr. That sumbitch pinned the tail on Clinton, but Washington let him free 'cause there's nothing in the Constitution says a boy can't get sum if she's willin. So now he's the pres i dent of the whole sh bang, and dang if'n he don't go all "I din't see nuthin'" on me and the boys. Sum bitch.

Didjah know that when they fire you for cause, you can't draw no unemployment?

Man, I miss them ol' pay days and the TV shows and the alumni handshakes after we kicked them ol Longhorns in the ass. Woooo Eeeee them was sure some fun times.

So ya win a whole bunch a ball games, and ya win with a team ain't done shit since.... ah, I don't know, Tommy O'Brien? An shit, he was at Tee Cee Uooo... any way, I recruit 'em, I coach 'em up, and we open a big ol' can of whup ass on the Big Aite, and some little sissy girls goes and tells her daddy some of my boys done done her wrong and the next thang you know my phone goes dead, my house, my fishin' boat and my bran new Ford 350 Dulie gets ree po zest and I get no offers from places that I know for a fact are in real need of a coach - you hear me up there in South Bend? Whut about you in La fay yet? Whut about you guys in Auburn, or Flor ee dah? I can still coach the hell out of thet ol' game. You think I lost my touch? Shhhh iiitt, you get me some relaxed enrollment rules and I'll put a winner in Van dee bilt or Wake Fore est. You bet your ass I will... sheee ittt This ain't no fun and it ain't fair. I can coach a whole bunch, gad dummitt.

Just finished watching the Showtime documentary Disgraced, which focuses on the murder that occurred within the Baylor basketball program in 2003 of player Patrick Dennehy. Most nausea-inducing segments of the film are voice recordings secretly made by Assistant Coach Abar Rouse after Coach Bliss made it clear he'd fire him if he didn't cooperate in a cover-up of NCAA violations committed by Bliss.

Justice being what it is in this world, Rouse hasn't worked again as a coach, but f'kin Bliss has a book out, and has been hired to coach by Southwestern "Christian" University in Oklahoma (quotes are mine--wonder if the school's holy forgiveness would have equally extended to a coach with a losing record?)

Anyway, at the end of the film one interviewee compares what occurred in the basketball program with a cancer. He cautions that what one must remember about cancer is that if you don't remove every bit of it, it grows back. Clearly, Baylor has a problem with metastases. Would be heartening if, for once, the disease would follow its logical course and end in death.

Report: Baylor set to release information on sexual assault reports

Apparently, transparency is no longer such a four-letter word in Waco. Somewhat.

Citing a brief filed in court Friday by attorneys representing Baylor, the Waco Tribune is reporting that “[g]eneral information behind every alleged sexual assault reported to Baylor University since 2003 will soon be released by the school.” The university is currently in the process of putting together spreadsheets that will shed light on the incidents over the last decade and a half.

Per the Tribune, below are the parameters of the information that will be included in the spreadsheets.
  • Date of alleged assault
  • Date alleged assault was reported to Baylor employee
  • Whether alleged victim was Baylor student
  • Gender of alleged victim
  • Gender of alleged assailant
  • Whether Baylor knew the identity of alleged victim
  • Whether Baylor knew the identity of alleged assailant
  • Whether alleged victim asked Baylor to keep the alleged assailant’s identity confidential
  • Location of alleged assault
  • How Baylor learned of alleged assault
  • Specific offices or type of Baylor personnel who were made aware of alleged assault
  • Disposition of complaint
.
.
continued
.
.
In the same brief filed late last week, the university again confirmed that it is the subject of “an ongoing, pending investigation” by the NCAA.

There's so many rapes/sexual assaults at baylor you need a program to keep them all straight.....

Seriously, this is much worse than some players accepting money and/or even players trading jewelry for tattoos, the NCAA needs to "make a statement" here and "drop the hammer" on Baylor.
