Baylor Bears (official thread)

So Baylor kicked out two JUCO transfers from the 2016 class. At least one of them was due to sexual assault allegations (remember when Baylorites were claiming everything has been cleaned up since 2014?). This same player was the national JUCO defensive player of the year but oddly had NO other major offers outside of Baylor. Why do you ask? Well it might possibly stems from accusations that occurred while he was at Florida Atlantic.

As Baylor reviews transfer athletes, ex-football player cites unfairness

.../snip/...
At least one player is no longer part of the football team and university in part because of the review. Defensive tackle Jeremy Faulk, who played at Garden City (Kansas) Community College and at Florida Atlantic University, told Outside the Lines that he was questioned by Baylor coaches on June 1 about an incident he was involved in at Florida Atlantic. He said he was also questioned about an alleged sexual assault that may have occurred in April on the Baylor campus, when he was on the Baylor team. No charges were filed in either case; Faulk, who denies sexually assaulting anyone, said he's never been asked by police to discuss the alleged April incident.

Faulk's departure has angered Jeff Sims, a former assistant at Florida Atlantic and the former head coach at Garden City. Sims, who coached Faulk at both schools, says Baylor is trying to rid itself of anyone who has had an allegation made against him, true or not. And he's disturbed by something he said new Baylor interim coach Jim Grobe told him when he called to ask why Faulk's status on the team was in jeopardy over the alleged April incident.

"Grobe says to me, 'Listen, if he just leaves, he can go on, and we won't stop him from playing anywhere, and this investigation will stop.'" Flabbergasted at the notion a sexual assault investigation might disappear if an accused player were to leave the team, Sims said he pressed Grobe, but Grobe struggled to be more specific before implying that Baylor administrators had made him remove the player from the team.
.../snip/...

So as of this year Brilesr was still bringing in players either knowing that they had a questionable background or without properly vetting them.

Even worse the school still isn't following proper Title IX guidelines. They told the kid to leave without any hearing & Jim Grobe allegedly told his former coach that the school wouldn't say anything about the charges if he left quietly.

Yes kids I still hold to my claim that this is going to end up being worse, much worse than the PSU scandal.

Shouldn't Grobe be removed if this is true?

Opening the door for the triumphant return of Art Briles!

You may very well be right. From what I read the school dismissed him (quietly) and Grobe was the one who had to communicate it. The stink goes from the locker room to the board room.

Muck, you may end up being right regarding where this ends up v Penn State, but right now the Stanford rape case is keeping the focus off the story unlike the unrelenting months of coverage at Penn State. The news value of Art Briles and Baylor v Paterno and Penn State only adds to the diminished coverage.

Brock Turner's assault was stopped by two Stanford students who then restrained him until police arrived. The University quickly banned him from campus (he withdrew from school before his disciplinary hearing). He was subsequently tried & convicted of three felonies. He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

People out for blood can be upset that his prison sentence wasn't longer but the case shouldn't be in the same discussion with those at schools that have attempted to hide sexual assault & rape cases of athletes.

I hear you, but the news focus is on that case, not Briles and Baylor.
