Battery powered weed-eaters

Thump

Hating the environment since 1994
  • Looking at purchasing a Black and Decker battery-powered weedeater since my Craftsman gas-powered one went kapoot.

I like the idea of not having to buy gas and not having to try for 5 minutes to get it started like my gas powered one.

Anyone here have any experience with one and have any comments to add?

Just wish Dewalt made a weedeater than ran on my 2 cordless drill batteries. :roll1:

We have one. They're cheaper and much lighter, which is a bonus. If you have a small yard, I'd recommend it. But pulling a power cord around can be a pain in the butt.

And as for the drill batteries...those things are too dang expensive...easier just to buy a new drill.

I have a Black and Decker that is AC powered. It's realy hard moving around the portable Honda generator though! No actually, My yard is small enough that two 50 ft cords are more than enough to reach. Works well and I never have trouble starting it (other than on Saturday afternoon during football season)

I wonder if they have solar powered weed eaters yet?

I have owned both a gas and a battery powered Toro. The gas one kicks the battery powered ones ass and then some. If you are just doing some small amounts grass around fences, mailboxes, decks, etc. the battery powered is fine. Yet for anything else, including using things like tree trimming accessories, the gas powered one is the way to go.

On top of that my battery powered one is now dead. Don't really miss it. I got it free when I bought my lawnmower. The gas one still rocks, and once you get used to the start procedure it's not too bad.
