Thanks for posting these again, 21. I read them last summer and learned some things, but with my memory these days, I needed a refresher.

Great to bring these back... I read through a couple of 'em a month or so back and they were very informative... though maybe someone would redo those graphics for those of us who still have a little trouble picturing the details?

There are a few listed I haven't seen yet... cool. :)

Great post, and just what I needed. I'm no expert at football, but something like this will help me get there.

I would kill to see an OSU playbook. I wonder if they've been sold on ebay....

The only play I can pick out when Tressel calls it (and Zwick relays it to Smith) is the "Ginn-on-a-slant-instant-touchdown-play."

I have one from '97 or '98...but they are on Ebay occasionally. Let me see if I can burn it and send it to you this weekend.

Good stuff...basic procedures, philosophies, and Buckeye Leaf breakdown are all included.

I saved the link to this thread.. just knowing some day it would come in handy...

My oldest son is now coaching the OL/DL HS freshman in VA...
His fortes are baseball and basketball... he never played organized football.. He wanted to play LB and WR but he was so much bigger than the other kids the coaches said OL and he said.. see ya...

So last yr he was basically a helper.. this yr he's a position coach.. and he's been researching and teaching himself what to formally coach...

How can I get to these links I've saved for 7 yrs

He's out of access right now... offsite camp... but I'll find out ASAP

Even if it isn't their 'system'.. I think he's doing his research on techniques...

He should probably consult with the OC/HC to determine which techniques they prefer. I've butted heads with every single overpromoted SOB who had the good fortune to have me as an assistant. He's far better off to do what they want unless he wants to wants to be relegated to giving coaching advice on a college football message board.:)

OL techniques depend upon the athletes with whom you are blessed. (F you, grammar Romans!) There are different pulling techniques, hands versus shoulder blocking, et cetera. I have my favorites, and then there are others...

Freshman level classes at St. V. Had his parents only helped him make the right decision while he was in 8th grade.

Is he teaching and coaching or just coaching? He needs to pull in his Pelini cards there at Hoban to help an alum out.
