Barry Bonds suffers another setback...

tsteele316: "i wont have issue with the 54 hr's he'll hit without the juice to get the record. its the couple hundred he hit while roided up that i take issue with."

The most homers Bonds ever hit in a season 'Roid-free was 46, and that was at the ripe ol' age of 30. He aint hitting 54 w/o the juice at 42 years old.

At ages 40, 41, & 42, Hank Aaron hit 42 homers total (20 in '74, 12 in '75, & 10 in '76). And that's three years worth. There's no reason to think that a clean (and rehabbing) Bonds would hit anymore than that at the same age.

I don't think Bonds is hanging on for three more years. Especially after he has a huge drop-off in production whenever he gets back.

Unfortunately I'd disagree on him not putting up better numbers than that if he comes back. He gets what 12 or 16 games a year with Colorado being in the NL west? Also Hanks last three years were still a pitching dominant era, 20 HR's was a lot in the 70's and 80's. With the smaller parks and watered down pitching of todays game I really feel Bonds could do better than 42 over 3 years.

Hopefully we never find out and he just goes away. The only famous person that has made me hate them more than Bonds is Jane Fonda. Thats the level of human being I think he is.

We'll see. I think it'll be close. Remember, the only guy to hit 50+ HRs (total) past his 41st B-Day is Carlton Fisk. It used to be a gimme that Bonds would break the record, but missing this year hurts.
