Bama's Defense for spread teams

If you think 247 and Scout are crap, AL.com is excrement from chicken [Mark May].

Bamamag (Scout) is far too involved with following Auburn. 247 has its plus side—forum participation and conversations isn't on the high list.

The thing about the Bama forums found on the 'net is every one of them has a different environment—one vastly different from the other.

I only went to al.com once, saw what I expected and that was that. Maybe if I'd stuck around it would be at the same level as the other two.

How long did you stick around the other forums?

Any and all message forums are going to have their "blowhards." Heck, they can be found here just like they can be found on any site. Some are easier to recognize at a casual glance.

The lesson I've learned over the years is given time you being to recognize individual posters that are worth the time to converse with; others you learn to ignore.

Your statement about SEC fans not following college football is outlandish. TV ratings prove that. But, that doesn't mean you are one of those blowhards, ya know?

I ran across a comment on either this thread or another that was taking a dig at "SEC is the best conference around." I see the ESPNSEC stuff. There's a couple of off-speed pitches down the middle waiting to be hit out of the park. That doesn't mean anyone has to swing...

Our two programs haven't run across each other often. It's the first time in the Internet age. I'd caution against being too quick to judge.

When he examines the performances of players like Gordon, he weighs the competition. He makes comparisons, too. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back believes he could have produced 2,000 yards against Big Ten defenses -- just like Gordon -- this season.

"I'm just going to say I would have loved to have played against Northwestern, Illinois and Purdue," Artis-Payne said.

That site is just full of homer fans talking crap about other conferences. I wouldn't go there. The internet is biased.

Curious. Which forums would that be?

rolltidebama.com has a very level group of posters on that site.

SECrant immediately comes to mind. I also lurked on whatever forum it was that CtrlAltDel came from for a bit, and that was amusing in a Finebaum sense... but if I'm going to subject myself to that, I'd rather do it with the audio for the full effect.

In contrast, Shaggy Bevo is pretty awesome to lurk. A wide number of fanbases are well represented and an excellent mix of silliness, seriousness, and smack talk.

SEC fans definitely follow the sport - just not outside their own confines imo.
The problem is akin to saying a company has bought their own press releases.

Wow, what great taste in sweaters! Love the color scheme.

I think I covered this earlier, but when you have four top 10 teams playing in one day, that pretty much takes up your football watching time.

Whether or not those teams deserve to be there is beside the point.

My dog licks her private parts a lot. I mean A LOT. She would tell me that her private parts are the best private parts she's ever licked. Just sayin'

are you telling me that if the B1G was rated that highly, you would watch some unrated SEC teams play at the same time on Saturday? I don't think you would do that.
Especially, if you only watch one (maybe two) games most weeks.

How many games between unrated or lowly rated teams did you watch this year?

There's ranked teams in the other 4 conferences all year...

I remember like 10-12 years ago... when ESPN had actual message boards... a lot of people complained about all the highly-ranked Big11 teams and such. Of course teams like Iowa were actually pretty decent back then, scUM and PSU weren't down, etc. -- so they weren't really over-ranked.
Anyway, I watched about the same number of out of conference games then as I do now. Especially with all the channel availability today, I probably only zero in on 1 game when it's Ohio State.

The only conference I don't see much of is the PAC... so many late games.

I, personally, watch a lot of football on Saturdays and the highlights on Sundays.

If there isn't another game on that catches my interest, I'll watch some Friday night MACtion and even a Thursday night ACC game.

I think there are a lot of us here that simply watch a lot of football because we like football.

If I only watched a couple of games per week then I surely would seek the "relevant" games and you're right that those are usually highly ranked teams.

With my schedule (small kids) the only other games I see are PAC.

I really think it's dumb too critique what football games somebody watches. Especially somebody that is a casual fan who has never played a snap. Watch whatever conference you want.
