Game Thread Ball State at tOSU, Sat. Sept. 5th, 12:30 ET BTN

Trying to decide what intrigues me the most going into tomorrow.
How the third receiver role shapes up before the trip to Austin?
O-line absolutely dominating against a team they should?
How Arthur Smith's offense translates to Ohio State? His gigs in the pros were pretty brutal, I'll trust the hire but something to watch.

So happy we're back, it's going to be an incredible season!
To me I’m interested to see how the offense tends to call the plays. Did we learn from last year? Is there a bit more variety in tempo? Are we giving our skill the chance to make plays by throwing to them on the move instead of a bunch of hitches? Then how do we use Bey?

For defense, just how does the defense feel, is there domination or does Ball State find a little room without 4 first rounders on defense (I count K Mac). Do we blitz more?

It’s. Game. Day.

From everything I’ve heard, I’m expecting the tempo to be a point of focus. Sounds like they’re really pushing to shake things up in that department. I guess we’ll see.

3 bold predictions for Ohio State vs. Ball State in a steamy Week 1 matchup

The Buckeyes could hit some interesting landmarks on Saturday afternoon.

1. Julian Sayin will throw for 250+ yards in the first half

2. Tavien St. Clair takes a stranglehold on the backup QB job

3. Kenyatta Jackson Jr. records three sacks

I know I’ve gone back and forth with a few here about needing to play fast. I’ll just settle a bit here with those who say going slow but efficient is the best approach. I think we need to be able to do both. It’d be nice vs these tomato cans to just be efficient and shorten the amount of reps but it’s important to have tempo in the back pocket for when or if you need it (for example late vs Indiana or Oregon). If you don’t need it then great keep playing efficient and slow, but there might be a time where we need to pick up it and go score in 90 seconds to win a game.

Agreed on Arthur Smith. We'll soon find out if he can get things clicking at the college level.

Good morning Buckeye Nation. Its here. Its finally here!! Ball St Cardinals. Was going to say "Let's kick these Cardinals in the balls." Then I over thought it and wondered "Do Cardinals have testicles?" According to the Googles, they do. They are internal. So I say again, "Let's kick these Cardinals in the smooth area their balls are internally stored in their little bird bodies". Its Game Day!!! TIME.2.GET.PPPPPUUUUMMMMPPPPEEEDDDD!!!!!
