This picture is on FoxSports College football page right now, with a bold headline (the associated story I posted on the Mental Toughness thread):

BAD TASTE

I couldn't agree more. When I see those jerseys, I always want to throw up!

:scum4:

When I saw these lines in the article I had a bad case of indigestion :(
Ohio State and Michigan
Why wouldn't these teams have more of a mental edge than Iowa? For Ohio State, the clouds that surrounded Maurice Clarett have now drifted, at least a little bit, to Troy Smith. This is not an assessment of guilt or blame, just an acknowledgment of the persistent presence of controversy around Buckeye football. Is the controversy justified? That's irrelevant to this discussion.
To Matthew Zemek -- So if its not relevant - don't fucking mention it.

I'm replying to a thread "Bad Taste ..." and offering opinion on the continued overuse by the media of controversy and Ohio State football in the same sentence. Which continued overuse does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

If I'm replying to the thread concerning mental toughness I think your point is perfectly sound. But I'm not doing that.

the bad taste was a play on words on the michigan picture.

your comments were based on the article written by matthew where he makes a comment about how all the attention may not be justified..

don't know why you are mad at him?

Please put it down to severe case of looking at the world (and that article) through a pair of rose tinted spectacles -- sideways -- and harboring the vain hope that last year's coupling of Ohio State & Controversy in the same sentence by the sports media would be a thing of the past come this new season.

I am not too worried when journalists keep mentioning all of this "dark cloud" nonsense. It makes teams think that the Buckeyes may be carrying this as a great concern that would inhibit their performance. In truth, it has had a reverse effect.

This team is mentally tough. It includes kids that chose to be Buckeyes in what appeared to be a very dark hour. Despite all of the bad press, lies and innuendo. These kids wanted to be Buckeyes, they wanted to be here, they wanted to win here, no matter what anyone else said.

As they choke on their printed words later this year, let all of those who have participated understand...

it is of such determination that dynasties are born.

These commercial writers (and script readers on t.v.), are trained to maintain tension or create conflict in their stories. What better way than to jump from the dead MC horse to the imaginary breathing TS horse? Nothing short of a curative statement from NCAA will stop these fiction writers. If even one of them wrote the whole truth and nothing but the truth on "dark cloud", the whole 2-year barf would be buried on page 52.
