Bad calls in our favor?

so i was on another forum and this topic came about and it somewhat gained my attention. there were florida fans talking about how bad of a call there was that they were the beneficiary of in the 05 iowa bowl game for example. then i thought about ohio state and i really could not think of any significant bad calls that have gone in our favor. i feel as if i am forgetting one somewhere along the lines and i know of some little ones but no REAL bad ones. i am sure most of the sports world would claim the terry porter ordeal would be ours but i don't think it was a bad call so i am just curious as to what you guys think was a bad call in our favor as far as football goes.

goal: find a SIGNIFICANT bad call or non-call by referees that went in our favor IE: OSU vs USC and USC player catches game winning td yet is called out of bounds even though he is in bounds.

To some, the National Title game pass interference in '02.

To some the idea of hot swapping Zwick and Smith in the first Texas game.

Its tough to remeber us getting burned when you are losing 2 games a year. Not a lot of chances for us to lose on the count of one bad call.

A pass was tipped by a UT DL, right to Pitt, who by catching it lost 5-8 yards. When the FG slipped outside the post, it made me wonder what would have happened from the 3rd down LOS.

I would also throw out the FG that ended the first half in that same '02 game @ Purdue. That clock operator sure gave Nuge an awful lot of time to kick that one, and I'm pretty certain the clock was at :00 before the snap, but I won't complain. :biggrin:

both guys were making contact. A good no-call.

Some people thought that in the 2002 Illinois game, Illinois scored the tying TD in OT - but I thought that it was clear that he was juggling the ball out of bounds.

lots come to mind. but, thats the nature of the beast. some calls go in yoru favor some dont. typically in crunch time the refs swallow their whistles.


but i will say the tenn game this year. two huge missed calls in that game. lewis hit a 2 not a 3 and when the clock started...

I think that call is overruled by the officials botching the call on Krenzel's TD scramble in regulation. ESPN had a picture of that dive at the pylon on their main page that entire night, and it was clear as day that the ball was inside the pylon and his knees were off the ground.

Butler also stepped out of bounds with a second left... clearly visible on screen. Then again, with the microscopic monitors they use for sideline reviews, perhaps not.
