B1G CCG: THE Ohio State University vs NW’ern: Sat, Dec. 19 in Indianapolis, Noon on Fox

You're right... going into the season I made it a goal to not do what I did on Saturday. Instead I had too many drinks and for some reason expected perfection. Which is silly considering it's been such an imperfect season. There probably wasnt a bigger ass hole than me on Saturday and unfortunately I have one a year like that which isn't an excuse.

You're right though. We were close to not even having a season so the fact we got in 6 games, won the big ten and get a shot at Clemson should be celebrated.

As always personally I know I cringed the next day knowing how I acted. Especially checking in here the next day too.

We are very spoiled as a fan base. 4 straight big ten titles shouldn't be taken for granted.

I don't think I posted anything that was too far away from some honest criticism (mixed it with a lot of positive posts), but deep down I felt this way with how I actually acted during the game. I was beyond pissed for most of the game and even at the end it took some digging to even enjoy winning a fourth straight B1G title. My roommate legit told me he left the house for a few hours because of how I was acting during the game. This all after I swore I would enjoy watching even one game after the season got cancelled.

Then I saw the players and coaches celebrating, then the memories of when the whole season was cancelled came flooding back, particularly during Day's speech. And Urban talked about how winning rings always matters. Players like Justin Hilliard and Haskell Garrett, who've been through so much this year, played out of their minds and were elated to celebrate a championship with all their brothers on the field. Then you have Sermon, who struggled to find any rhythm here, break Eddie George's single game rushing record against all odds. Wyatt Davis and Shaun Wade smile from ear to ear after opting out and back in.

Yeah, you can't take that into consideration and say this season hasn't been worth it even with all the struggles and obstacles. Whether we beat Clemson or not, this is a special team that we are lucky to have watched play this year. That said, I'm glad we have a chance to beat Clemson and I'm not putting it past this team to do it. Shit, I just watched the Bengals beat the Steelers. I always want that shot though.

Well I wouldn't beat yourself up over it bukI. I was frustrated as hell watching the game too. Had some family over so I wasn't drinking. Maybe the only reason I didn't experience a cringy day after. :-)

Honestly didn't quote any posters names (and not sure you're even in those quotes) because it wasn't my intention to chastise anyone individually. Just wanted to note that wishing to duck an opponent because we are worried about the outcome is a (Walmart) Wolverine fanbase move. The day that becomes more than just venting frustration during the game is the day my faith in Buckeye nation begins to die. I'm not going to sit quietly while that happens.
Oh for sure I didnt feel like you put me on the spot... I just noticed a

Same... I'm glad we have a shot. I know I maintained I didn't want a shot on game day but you can't finally beat Clemson without playing them.

I still don't like our odds but we've beaten better teams with worse teams before.

Don’t post during games then.

Also kudos to your roommate.

Don’t be “that guy.”

Remember, we are all overly invested in a “game.”

Our full breakdown of how many snaps everyone played, as compiled by Eleven Warriors, follows below. As always, all snap counts should be considered unofficial, and include only the number of snaps played on offense or defense, though participants on special teams units are also listed.

REF SUFFERING FROM BLINDNESS? For those of you into praying for Christmas miracles, this referee from the Big Ten Championship game apparently desperately needs his sight to be miraculously restored.

It's wild that the Big Ten would think it wise to employ an openly blind referee. I sincerely applaud the attempt at inclusion – we need more of that in the world! – but I'm just not sure it's going to work out in this case.

He could've gone for 400+ had we went to the run earlier too... I disagree with Coach Day that our aggressiveness throwing early helped Sermon.

NW knew we went run exclusively in the 2nd half and just couldn't stop it. The threat of the throw did absolutely no favors to Sermon because there pretty much wasn't a threat of the throw.

Sermon went off with the help of nothing other than outstanding offensive line and tight end run blocking.

It’s silly when armchair coaches act like they know better than the coaches who do this every day for a living. But we had a room full of people screaming at the TV “run the damn ball!” for the entire first half. Were all of us, heavily drinking a-holes, wrong?

So, I probably missed some chunks of this thread and I didn't watch any of the post game pressers...

(And I'm not singling you 2 out here, I just quoted these for context of the point/question I want to make/raise)

You have Teague out early after two carries... Miyan Williams gets one carry (some kind of sweep left as I remember) and that's it. Chambers was on the Covid list and Crowley hasn't played as far as I can remember...

Sermon gets 29 carries, which is more that double his usual workload.. has anyone brought up the idea that there was kind of a pitch count here and Day didn't want to get into 40 carry territory?

Just read the last 120 pages of this game thread. My iPad was crashing Saturday, so I wasn’t on BP during the CCG.

3yards has already said most of my thoughts more eloquently than I could. When the Buckeyes play is frustrating to watch, criticism is expected, but the nature of it matters.

By the way, these types of posts I think are normal:

“WTF? Run the damn ball!”
“The play calling is killing me, why throw it on 2nd and 2?”
“JF holds the ball too long, he’s hurting his draft stock.”

But for those who don’t recall, we don’t allow Buckeye bashing on BP, so folks may need to think twice before finalizing a post made in frustration during the heat of the contest. Something to keep in mind during the Sugar Bowl, and Woody willing, the game after that. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with “Fuck Barbie” and “Fuck Dabo”.

When I was younger (OK much younger), I was a lot more pissed off when things didn’t go well for the Buckeyes. Over time, I’ve managed to enjoy the good moments and the victories just as much as always, but I’ve managed to not be so angry when the Buckeyes are struggling, or heaven forbid, end games with an ‘L’. I wish I had the wisdom to explain how I managed to do this, but I think I just realized I needed to not get so pissed off, life’s too short. Now I’m far from perfect, my wife still normally leaves the house during Buckeye games to not witness my reactions!

And of course, when I was a younger fan, there were no Buckeye sites to post on, there was no Internet. So my craziness wasn’t immediately witnessed by an online group of followers. And recording my thoughts took longer, so I had time to think twice before being done - it took quite some time to chisel “Run the damn ball!” on a stone tablet.
