(b/B)uckeyes and some Domer Hope

Btw, the Brown's are crazy if they really believe Aaron will walk in and be a 3 years and done player at any of his top choices. I've seen him play, and he is not even CLOSE to being college-ready right now; he's a great athlete with a lot of potential, and I hope he chooses OSU, but this is NOT Orlando Pace.

As far as I can tell (with respect to all current Buckeyes in the fold) we haven't had an Orlando Pace type prospect since Orlando left. It really doesn't matter what we think. None of us are offering Aaron a schollie. I have had the privilege to speak and listen to some of the coaches (this week and last week) who are and they don't share those concerns about Aaron and his abilty. As a matter of fact, at least a couple had virtually promised Aaron the opportunity to play significantly if not start early. Now the coaches could be feeding the Browns a bunch of bull just to get Aaron to sign on the dotted line, but that wouldn't be mutually benificial. Scholarships are too valuable. Maybe the coaches I listened/spoke to are egomaniacal, but they believe with Aaron coming in early, they have the ability to get him where he needs to be. One coach basically said, " son, you see what we have here." Salesmanship, maybe. Stroking a 17 year olds ego, quite possible. It been said over and over again that Aaron is going to pick the situation that he believes is best for him. Playing time is important, but there are many other considerations, many of them personal, that factored into his decision. For those reasons I believe that this forum is inappropriate to expound on them and have us cross examine his rationale. From my vantage point it's a done deal and we should focus on the next prospect. Our chances are slim and none and I think slim is leaving the area. Hopefully this board can be classy, respect Aaron's decision wherever it may be, and congratulate him on his decision. After all, regardless where he goes to school, he is from OHIO and will always be a buckeye.

Maybe just not the Buckeye we wanted him to be.:)

This board will congratulate and respect his decision, but just because he is from Ohio doesn't mean he will be buckeye if he chooses to go elsewhere.
Do you consider Desmond Howard to be a Buckeye? No.
What about Fred Davis? No.
Aaron Brown? Not unless he signs with tOSU.
As for his decision, its his, I hope he enjoys his time in college and has a good career.

You are a Buckeye when you put on the scarlet and gray. You are a Buckeye when you stand behind them no matter what happens in the season. What he is remains to be seen and I hope he chooses the school that is best for him and enjoys it there. No sense in going to a school that you don't think you will enjoy going to for 4-5 years. If he doesn't want to come here then he can giddy up and go elsewhere. We got the best lineman in Ohio without a doubt and he would just be a nice addition. Best of luck to you wherever you go Aaron and I am not going to be bashing anyone on their choice of colleges. Go wherever it suits you best.

When did I ever question his ability? He's a decent high school offensive lineman with the potential to be a great one; most anyone who has seen him play will offer that assesment. He's not ready to start at a major D-1 school...not many high school recruits, especially o-lineman, are. But, I guess if a college coach promised he would start as a freshman, it must be true...cause we all know, coaches NEVER lie to recruits to get them to come to there school.:wink2:

Aaron has (apparently) declined the chance to play for tOSU and represent his state. I respect his decision and I hope he doesn't get injured, but as far as I'm concerned, he's not a Buckeye anymore....never was to begin with.

Umm... Notice the difference between "buckeye" (lowercase) and "Buckeye" (capitalized proper noun)? Madville was noting the difference between being an Ohioan (buckeye) and an affiliate of The Ohio State University/OSU Athletics (Buckeye). Regardless of how much some of us (myself included) wish it were the case, not being a Buckeye (proper noun) doesn't make you any less of a buckeye (nickname for Ohioans in general).

Simply being from Ohio does not make one a Buckeye. Craig Krenzel was from the state up north, yet he is a Buckeye.

As with others, I will respect whatever decision the Brown's have made for Aaron and wish him the best with his college career as well as his academics. But considering him to still being a Buckeye simply because he is from Ohio is not something I can do.

Let's gets things straight...a person from Ohio is both an Ohioan and a Buckeye (capital "B"). Anytime you use a noun as a title, either formal or informal, you capitalize it. I was born and raised in Ohio, so I am a Buckeye.

That being said, for our purposes, "Buckeye" (capital "B") means a player or coach directly affiliated with the university, either past, current, or committed for the future.

Agreed - Ronnie Wilson is more of a Buckeye than Aaron Brown. Wilson wanted to come to Ohio State, but didn't get an offer; Brown got the offer, but chose to leave town.
