Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
Somehow I picked up the AWOLA virus. It is a really mean one that gets into your registery and is very difficult to get rid of. It claims to be an anti spyware program, but it isn't. It is very annoying as it keeps popping up (like every 10 seconds) saying it found several "extremely dangerous" viruses on my computer. To get them removed you can buy their anti virus removal program. It is a scam. They just want your credit card number, etc.
I spent the last couple of days downloading several free virus removal programs; Spybot, Bazooka, SuperAntiSpyware, Avast, and McAfee, etc. Yes I got McAfee for free and it didn't work either. So I contacted their live internet help desk, and some guy named "PradeepP" (guess what country their help desk is in) told me to try this:
How to scan for viruses in DOS
It didn't work for me either.
To make matters worse most programs wanted you to run in "Safe Mode" and I couldn't get there using the F8 key.
Then I finally discovered that you can get into safe mode through START, RUN, MSCONFIG, etc. and a fix called SmitFraudFix.exe. See:
How to remove Awola 6.0 (Removal Instructions)
It worked for me. God bless you SmitFraudFix!!! :)
