Auto Accidents - What's Your Story

  • I'm sure most if not all of us have been in a car accident at some time. What's your craziest, weirdest, scariest, or whatever car accident story.

The latest one for me is a guy who calls me 5 weeks after his daughter and my daughter bump fenders in a parking lot and tells me he has a $600 estimate to repair the car and wants to know how I want to pay for it. I said excuse me? Really, 5 weeks later you think for a moment I might pay for something that was a no fault situation. Good luck with that.

Hit a bicyclist who happened to be the 12-year old son of a personal injury lawyer.

No fault of mine, but the dickweed threatened to sue and my insurance company declined to go after his insurance company to pay for my damages. I got a UM payout from the insurance company that I shouldn't have, but they didn't take it away, so I didn't go TOO postal on them. Still lost my deductible on that one.

Some girl crashed into my daughter's car in a parking lot. We got a few estimates and I called her dad and let him know the lowest estimate for the repair was around $600 and he was a complete dick about it. Asshole actually hung up on me.

Driving home from practice in high school, running late for work. Was on Coonpath Rd. That area is notorious for tar and graveling roads. Went around a slight left that was blinded by trees on the left. Was a car coming the other way so I pushed out right to avoid the car and hit a patch of gravel that had built up from previous drivers. Back tires fish tailed to the right. I was skidding sideways down the road at 45. Front tires caught grip again shooting me into the trees. I hit one dead on. I was not wearing my safety belt and when I went to eject, my leg got caught under the steering wheel. My face hit and left an imprint in the windshield. All of the crumple zones were gone. I tried to get out of the car and my left leg worked but my right leg didn't. The top half of my femur moved back and forth in my leg but the bottom didn't move at all. I was wearing mesh sports and my leg had swollen up enough to full them out. Femur had cleared through all the muscle and sat on the inside edge of the skin. Glass was stuck in my face and ear. No pain at all until the medics had to pull me out of the car and straighten my leg to set it. Should have died though. So I won't complain.

OSU CABS bus coming my way pulled a left out in front of me at Lane and Fyffe, and I t-boned him right on his front tire going about 45 with virtually no time to brake. Totalled my 2-month old Eclipse, which was actually a blessing because it got me out of a lease that was really going to be a bear. A couple of other drivers stopped to act as witnesses since the 20-year-old CABS driver was clearly at fault and was cited. Since I hit the wheel the bus was disabled and it was funny seeing all the riders have to get out and walk to the next stop. My buddy in the back seat hired Kevin Kurgis and won $10K and a year's worth of massages, so he was pretty happy about that.

I was 19 driving my mom's car with my older brother in the passenger seat. Some dipshit pulls out from my passenger side, running a stop sign while looking the other direction and ignoring the fact he has to cross my lane to get there. I swerved to the other lane trying to get past him but to no avail. He broadsides me, spins us 180 degrees and we come to a stop in the opposing lane facing the opposing direction (car stalled out as I grabbed the wheel without thinking about the clutch). Fortunately, no one was seriously injured although I did have to keep my brother from going apeshit on the guy.

I was backing out of a parking space at a Walmart at the same time the person parked behind was backing out and we gave each other a little love tap. This "methmouth Mary" comes flying out of her station wagon full of kids creaming that it was my fault, she was honking for me to stop as she surveyed her already fucked up piece of shit car for damage. She finally decided that I made one of the many dents and called the police to make a report even though I explained to her that for estimated damages under $500 a police report isn't necessary. She'd hear nothing of it and as we were waiting for the police she suddenly decides that her children, who'd been beating each other senseless in the car in the meantime, were all injured. The cop arrives, we make our statements, he's puzzled how my truck doesn't even have a scuff and she has this big dent...etc He talks to the kids who are all fine and finally, the moment I'd been waiting for ,he asks for our drivers licenses, registration, proof of insurance which of course I have and she has nothing. He let me go and I assume he wrote her a ticket, I don't know but I wish I'd stuck around to find out how it all went down.

Was sitting in a left tun lane at a stop light in the Easton area, probably about 10:30 at night. I heard a boom and then realized I was now in the middle of the intersection. Some chick who had just left work at one of the restaurants around there had rear ended me doing "about 40" while she was leaning over into the passenger's footwell trying to find her stereo's removable front that she had dropped (basically driving completely blind while speeding). It took the repair shop 4 weeks to get my car done (I insisted on OEM new parts since I was in Ohio at the time and that was allowed) and had a rental car the whole time. Cost her insurance about 20K total when all was said and done.

With my mom in downtown Newark at a red light. She's driving. Light turns green, we start to move, dude doing about forty coming the opposite direction decides to make a left turn from the not turn lane, smashes into us. She is wearing her belt, I'm not. She hits the steering wheel pretty hard, I put a crack in the windshield. I ask her if she's ok, she is, for the most part, but she's obviously in pain. I get out, start to make my way to the other driver so I can rip his fucking liver out. He stumbles out of his car...clutches his chest and drops to a knee. I turn around to check on my mom, not wanting to kill a dude that's already dieing. By the time I hear the crowd now gathered start to get loud, I look back and dude is a hundred yards down the street, in full sprint. Cops call the actual owner of the car, and she suddenly notices her car has been stolen! Fucking hicks.

Did you run that mofo down?

I thought most hicks in Nerk rode motorized bar stools or riding lawn mowers?

I don't run. Anywhere. Ever. If twenty dudes are chasing me, I'll stand and fight.

He was from Perry County...which is odd, because I didn't know they had cars at all there.
