  • Catcher in the Rye is still one of my favorite novels. RIP.

NEW YORK (AP) - "Catcher in the Rye" author J.D. Salinger has died at age 91 in New Hampshire.

The author's son, in a statement from the author's literary representative, says Salinger died of natural causes at his home. He had lived for decades in self-imposed isolation in the small, remote house in Cornish, N.H.

Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird have to be considered as two of the greatest American novels of all time. Kind of funny how both Harper Lee and JD Sallinger turned out to be reclusive in nature... Sallinger more so than Lee. I, too, hope that some of Sallinger's unpublished work gets out.

From what I hear he wrote a lot of novels that were never published, but he did plan on having them published posthumously.
