AT&T U-Verse

Anyone have this service? I've been thinking about switching (have Insight now). I've seen a mixed bag of reviews online, but heard some really good things secondhand through a friend. Any thoughts, reviews, whatnot are appreciated.

You're limited to 4 streams at one time in your house, only one being in HD. That alone was a dealbreaker to me. Only one DVR is allowed right now. Eventually you'll be able to access the DVR from any cable box, but not right now. No STO HD for all the Tribe fans.

Thanks Cleve. I only have one TV in the house right now anyway, so the only thing that might hold me up is the one HD stream, should I want to watch one and record another.

More than one stream in HD will be coming very soon.

That's what they say, but they also promised the whole-house DVR in other markets last year and failed to live up to that. I wouldn't sign up based upon what they say is coming, I'd look at what was actually there now.

Again, living alone with one TV one HD stream won't be a deal breaker, but it certainly is a big negative. The price drop or additional channels are hard to turn down though.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna call tomorrow to schedule the setup. Does anyone actually HAVE the service and have comments on quality and reliability?

I have AT&T phone and DSL. I've been pretty happy with both, but I have TW cable now. I'm just waiting for U-Verse to make it down my street so I can get a package deal, and BTN/NFL networks.

It's available in Hilliard, but not on my street. They're probably waiting for the construction at Hilliard-Rome and Roberts to finish up. Hopefully they'll have more than one HD stream by then too.

I have U-verse... much better than TW imo.

There's a thread on this topic in the gen. board if you want to read more about it... long story short, Uverse is cheaper and offers more channels than TW.

Any updates on Barksd... er... uverse, I'm thinking about getting it at the end of the month for my new place. Is it still limited to four streams an only one HD? I went through there site and it seems like there should be multiple HD streams now, but still only one DVR service.

They added a second HD stream. Still 4 total. Whole-house DVR is not available yet. They took away the three free receivers and only give you one now. Any extras are 5 bucks a month.
