With all the head coach moves always comes assistant coach moves. These decisions will be the back bone of your team... I wanted to start a thread tracking the assistants moves.

Jeff Bowden is being rumored to WR Coach of Georgia....obvious Mark Richt- Bobby Bowden connection

That actually makes a great deal of sense. From everything I've heard from the Seminole boosters I know; they believe that JB would make a competent position coach.

Would you suppose that they figure Jb can get the job done under Richt when he couldn't under daddy? What would that say about Daddy?

What they're saying is that Jeff is not coordinator material. Position coach, OK; half-the-team? Not so much.

Edit:

As my penance for getting us off-topic, I looked up MSU's new staff. They came from Dantonio's staff at UC unless otherwise noted.

  • Don Treadwell - OC
  • Pat Narduzzi - DC
  • Harlon Barnett - Secondary
  • Dan Enos - Running Backs
    • Enos is a hold-over from the previous staff. He was QB coach at MSU this past year. In '04 and '05 he was QB coach at Cincinnati.
  • Ted Gill - Defensive Line
  • Dan Roushar - Offensive Line
  • Mark Staten - TE and Recruiting Coordinator
    • Staten held the same positions at UC, but also worked with the Tackles
  • Mike Tressel - Special Teams, Linebackers
    • Yes, he's Jim's Nephew
  • Dave Warner - Quarterbacks
  • Tommy Hoke - Associate Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
    • Hoke is a hold-over from the previous staff
  • Ken Mannie - Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
    • Hold-over from previous staff
    • Has overseen S&C for all sports at MSU for 12 years
    • His daughter is a freshman there
    • Holds a Master's Degree from The Ohio State University
  • Mike Vollmar - Asst. AD / Director of Football Operations
    • Hold-over from previous staff
Basically, Dantonio brought everybody from his staff. The only MSU guys that kept their jobs were the S&C coach, who's been S&C for all sports for 12 years and whose daughter goes to MSU; his assistant S&C coach; and the QB coach who was just one year removed from having worked for Dantonio at UC (he was moved to RB coach).

doesn't affect his buyout at all actually....one of the shocking things about Jeff's buyout is that his contract was up in August, all they really had to do was finish out the season and then not re-sign him. It just goes to show how big of a player Bobby was to get Jeff all that extra cash when chances are there would have been enough to pressure to force him out after the bowl game anyways.

And statistically, Jeff was a good WR coach at FSU....it's hard to know whether that was influenced by other coaches on the offensive staff, or maybe that's just Jeff's niche. As an FSU alum, I wish him luck....if my dad were coach at OSU and I was offered a coaching position I'd have difficulty saying "no" as well.

Praise from former and possible future assistant

[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Craig Bray doesn't know if he'll be on new coach Dennis Erickson's staff, but the Minnesota secondary coach has no shortage of good things to say about ASU's hiring of his former boss.

"Dennis Erickson is a definite winner," said Bray, who was with Erickson during his first stint at Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State and Oregon State, where he was defensive coordinator from 2000-02. "He's knows the conference. He's a perfect fit. He's got all the energy for that job. If you look at his track record, it'll be like what happened at Oregon State.

"Arizona State has so many more resources (than Oregon State). The sky's the limit, and he's the pilot to take them there."

Bray was Arizona linebackers coach in 2003, then went to Colorado for two seasons before Minnesota. He will be at Sun Devil Stadium with Minnesota for the Insight Bowl against Texas Tech on Dec. 29.

Erickson is expected to announced his full staff soon. ASU confirmed the return of cornerbacks coach Al Simmons on Friday.

Others known to be on the staff are Rich Olson, offensive coordinator; Dan Cozzetto, tight ends; Gregg Smith, offensive line; and Jamie Christian, position to be announced.

Eric Yarber, Washington wide receivers coach, also is expected to rejoin Erickson, whom he worked for at Oregon State and with the San Francisco 49ers.

I'm happy with the FSU hirings thus far....we did lose LB coach Kevin Steele to Alabama...he will be DC there for Saban....as good of a coach Steele was, hes an even better recruiter, I'd really hate to see what FSU would have looked like the last several years without Steele doing a a majority of the defensive recruiting

Anyways, it is being reported on Tampa radio that Jimbo Fisher to FSU is also official but there hasn't hasn't been any definite confirmation

Assuming Fisher succeeds as OC, a term in his contract will put him at the top of the list as next HC at FSU
