“Around the B1G” will be a weekly article taking a look at the other teams around the Big Ten.

ILLINOIS (4-2 overall, 1-1 conference)

Last Week: Bye Week.

This Week: This week the Fighting Illini take on the Wisconsin Badgers in Champaign. The Illini played Iowa tough a few weeks ago and will give the Badgers all they can handle. The Badgers should get Corey Clement back, will he be too much for the Illini to stop? Also, the Illini will be wearing their not horrible gray uniforms.

The #Illini will again honor the "Galloping Ghost" Red Grange on #ILLINOIShomecoming. Gray Ghost Unis =

This week in Recruiting: Illinois did not have any commits this week. They sit at 16 commits for the 2016 class.

INDIANA (4-3 overall, 0-3 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Rutgers, 52-55. This was a complete and utter meltdown for the Hoosiers. After Devine Redding broke free to score a 66 yard TD, the Hoosiers led 52-27 with a little over five minutes left in the 3rd Quarter. Rutgers would proceed to rattle off 28 straight points and kick the game winning field goal at the end of regulation to win the game.

This Week: At Michigan State. There is no time to lick their wounds as the Hoosiers must turn right around and travel to East Lansing.

This week in Recruiting: Indiana did not have any commits this week. They sit at 10 commits for the 2016 class.

IOWA (7-0 overall, 3-0 conference)

Last Week: Iowa destroyed Northwestern 40-10. The Angry Iowa Running Back Hating God (AIRBHG) made an appearance again taking out star Jordan Canzeri. Akrum Wadley stepped in and ran for a cool 204 yards and four touchdowns.

This Week: Bye Week.

This week in Recruiting: Iowa did not have any commits this week. They sit at 23 commits for the 2016 class.

MARYLAND (2-4 overall, 0-2 conference)

Last Week: Bye Week.

This Week: Maryland welcomes Penn State. While this game is not big on the national stage, it is huge for the future of Maryland. Maryland needs to recruit their home turf better and wins against Penn State will only help this.

This week in Recruiting: Maryland received a commitment from RB/Safety Jake Funk. Additionally, QB Dwayne Haskins reaffirmed his commitment to Maryland. They sit at 17 commits for the 2016 class.

MICHIGAN (5-2 overall, 2-1 conference)

Last Week: Michigan lost a heart-breaker to little brother, 23-27. I would write more about this but I am still laughing.

This Week: Bye Week.

This week in Recruiting: Michigan did not have any commits this week. They sit at 21 commits for the 2016 class.

MICHIGAN STATE (7-0 overall, 3-0 conference)

Last Week: See Above. One of the most amazing finishes we will ever see.

This Week: The Spartans will be bringing the pesky Hoosiers to East Lansing. I think this has a pretty good possibility of being a trap game

This week in Recruiting: Michigan State did not have any commits this week. They sit at 20 commits for the 2016 class.

MINNESOTA (4-3 overall, 1-2 conference)

Last Week: Minnesota lost to Nebraska, 48-25. We just never know what Minnesota team will show up. One constant for this team was supposed to be the defense but they surrendered 464 yards and 48 points to a Nebraska team which has struggled at times.

This Week: Bye Week.

This week in Recruiting: Minnesota received a commitment from Athlete Tyler Johnson. They sit at 18 commits for the 2016 class.

NEBRASKA (3-4 overall, 1-2 conference)

Last Week: Nebraska beat Minnesota 49-25. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offense. Terrell Newby added 116 yards on the ground.

This Week: Home vs Northwestern.

This week in Recruiting: Nebraska did not have any commits this week. They sit at 15 commits for the 2016 class.

NORTHWESTERN (5-2 overall, 1-2 conference)

Last Week: Northwestern received a beat down from the Iowa Hawkeyes losing at home by 30 points. This seems to be a reoccurring theme with the Wildcats, they lose a big game and the wheels completely fall off. After being on the brink of joining the Top-10, the Wildcats have dropped the last two games by a combined 68 points.

This Week: The Wildcats travel to Lincoln to take on the Cornhuskers. Are they able to stop the skid? I don’t think they will.

This week in Recruiting: Northwestern did not have any commits this week. They sit at 19 commits for the 2016 class.

PENN STATE (5-2 overall, 2-1 conference)

Last Week: Penn State lost to the Buckeyes, 38-10. There were not many positives to come out of this game for Penn State but getting Saquon Barkley back from injury and watching him run for 194 yards was encouraging.

This Week: The Nittany Lions travel east to take on Maryland.

This week in Recruiting: Penn State did not have any commits this week. They sit at 20 commits for the 2016 class.

PURDUE (1-6 overall, 0-3 conference)

Last Week: Purdue lost to Wisconsin, 7-24. This is the fifth straight loss for Purdue.

This Week: Bye Week.

This week in Recruiting: Purdue did not have any commits this week. They sit at 9 commits for the 2016 class.

RUTGERS (3-3 overall, 1-2 conference)

Last Week: Rutgers rattled off 28 unanswered points to beat the Hoosiers 55-52. Chris Laviano threw for 386 yards and star wide receiver Leonte Carroo hauled in seven receptions for 157 yards and three touchdowns.

This Week: The Buckeyes travel east to take on the Scarlet Knights. Will this be a trap game for Ohio State?

This week in Recruiting: Rutgers did not have any commits this week. They sit at 18 commits for the 2016 class.

WISCONSIN (5-2 overall, 2-1 conference)

Last Week: Wisconsin beat the Boilermakers of Purdue, 24-7. Quarterback Joel Stave threw for 322 yards but did not have any touchdowns.

This Week: Wisconsin travels to play the Illinois Fighting Illini. They hope to welcome back star RB Corey Clement

This week in Recruiting: Wisconsin received a commitment from safety Eric Burrell. They sit at 20 commits for the 2016 class.
