Arkansas State @ tOSU, Sat Sep 10, Noon ET on BTN

Initial unprovoked thoughts lol...

1. Something isn't right on offense but I'm chalking it up to having 2 WRs out including the best in college ball.

2. We really need to go downhill on teams. The way it encourages tough running and an effective play action is very tough to stop.

3. Run defense is outstanding but the pass rush didn't dominate today like I thought it would. Granted they were doing a ton of quick outside throws but still there just wasn't a ton generated in terms of 4 man pressure.

4. We were not sound fundamentally today. Boat loads of missed tackles and too many penalties.

5. Where are the turnovers? That's no forced turnovers so far and I think that's something Jim Knowles defenses in the past have struggled with too.

Overall though it was a "meh" kind of performance but honestly that shouldn't be a surprise considering the time and opponent.

Only negative I take from this game is this. We don't have a shut down corner. The corners will be tested HARD from here on out. Secondary coaching isn't getting through to the players. Some horrible form out there today. Obviously the talent is there just need to develop them.
Really it's just been Burke. Secondary has been good so far through 2 games. Not sure what you mean when you say something isn't getting through to the secondary?

I like that they're working on that toss play with an additional option and PA. Agree that they'll need more running inside the tackles, but this seemed like a good game to work on other stuff.

Offense still put up 530 yards on only ~60 plays. I'd be shocked if it's not significantly smoother with JSN back to work the underneath.

Problem is we only went for 160 yards rushing when our backs were finding success per carry. Another game and another situation where we come away thinking "why did we bail on the run?"?

It's a 33 point win though in a noon game vs a bottom performing school after a big game. So it shouldn't have been a surprise we maybe didn't play our A game.

For the record something doesn't seem to be clicking on offense but again you have to figure that's personnel (not having 11 and 4).

Well, first off, I want to apologize to the collective.

My gameday routine got completely blown out of the water and I missed the opening kickoff.

Wifey (Ukrainian, they're bonkers for mushrooms, like Hobbit bonkers) begged me to take her out to the woods so she could hunt shrooms. At 1145 I started hollering for her to get her butt in gear. She finally got back to the truck at 1155 with a 15 minute drive home. "The game is at 2" "No its at 12, RIGHT NOW!" pointing to the clock that read 1205. "no more gameday shroom hunting for you!"

So, I take the blame for our beloved Bucks not getting the blow out we hoped for.

IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

That being said, A win is a win and the best thing about being 2 & 0 is...

I WILL be prepared for Toledo

GO BUCKS!

Very initial thoughts as I flipped back and forth to the Bama Texas game:

1. Defense was bend but don't break the first half. Second half was pretty dominant all things considered. Still much better as a whole.

2. Burke looks nothing like he did last year, first couple games have not been good. Hopefully this is a very short sophomore slump and get gets back to form.

3. Ransom needs to rarely come off the field. Was I missing something when he barely played the first half (if at all)? He's our best safety, followed by Proctor imo.

4. Stroud was looking like he did in the Rose Bowl, some incredible throws today regardless of the opponent. The dime to Harrison in the left corner endzone was such a difficult throw and perfectly done. The other thing I noticed is he's shortened his throwing motion by a lot and that's paying dividends, no wasted motion and ball is gone quickly, even when it flies 40-50 yards.

5. Ran the ball with authority today. OL looked good and our backs did well with the opportunity.

6. Harrison Jr. is just absurd, he's our #2 WR? JSN coming back will be a huge boost, but this dude is absolutely for real.

7. Eichenberg might be the best LB in CFB right now. He has been everywhere the first two games (and the Rose Bowl), and looks about as good as possible so far. Man I'm pumped for this huge season he's going to have, heart and soul of the defense.

8. Vincent played really inspired and with a lot of fire. Hall looked great again. Tyleik was a wall as well. DT looks like it's going to do the job at least, and maybe excel. At DE, JTT looked awesome but I think we're getting too cute with Sawyer, just let him be a DE imo. Harrison is absent, don't see him doing much more than filling in the rotation this year.

9. Curry gets his own paragraph, absolute stud and will destroy it for years to come. Might take some time from Harrison moving forward, especially against run oriented teams.

10. Mirco can pin a punt right on the 1 yard line at will it seems, kid is off to a great start and is a huge asset to the team.

I'll go back and watch the rest, but solid win and plenty to learn from on film... lots of teaching moments and mistakes to win by the margin we did. 2-0 baby, I'll enjoy the rest of the games today.

They don't seem to be using proper form or taking correct angles. The secondary coaches need to step up. It's all fixable. One more cupcake to brush up on, then big ten comes a knocking.

Can't believe ND lost to marshal. Was counting on that big out of conference win in case the boys have an off game.

We faced a 6th year senior with tons of big time experience. Yet still didn't give up a touchdown.

We are fine and there's nothing around with giving up a few pass yards.
