Arizona fans pelt UO cheerleader with full water bottle

Provoked

This thread doesn't deliver. Without pictures, I cannot make an accurate assessment of the situation to see if the fans had been provoked by ugliness.

On a side note. Hope she's okay.

Perhaps I do not understand, but what exactly provokes an attack on an innocent person, player, cheerleader, coach or anyone else. Violence never called for. Slurs of any sort are merely words and I do understand the anger but not the violence.

All of that being said, a portion sports fans have become way out of line.

Anyone ever heard of sportsmanship or is that gone kaput?

Tuscon is a nasty little place. It doesn't surprise me a bit. Watching the video, their "fans" look like gang members.

At some point, league commissioners need to step up and penalize schools for things like this. Fine U of A 100k for the incident, and I promise they'll figure out a way to stop crap like this from happening. If a school were fined every time fans threw objects, they'd start to actually do something instead of just issuing lame public apologies.

Damn. I'd pelt her with liquids, too.

But it wouldn't be in a bottle.

I was joking. I don't wish that this sort of event would happen to anyone.

The chance that the culprits are UA students or Tucson residents is high, but look at the idiots that cause trouble in Columbus on gamedays. Oftentimes they are from out of town. Could be the case here as well.

Arizona Daily Wildcat - UA fans, Zoo show true colors

The first chant I ever heard as an Arizona student was during a 2006 16-13 UA win against Brigham Young University.
Was it the ?U-of-A? chant? No.
Was it the ?Ar-i-zo-na? chant? No.
As the Cougars took the field, the Zona Zoo broke in a chant of ?F***-the-Mor-mons.?
I should have known then the type of class ? or lack thereof ? UA fans would display during my years here in Tucson.
That?s just downright despicable. The display at the end of the Oregon game, the vulgar and totally unacceptable taunts at the BYU team, both water bottle incidents ? all of it.
