Unfortunately, I am not yet. I have to run out and grab a few small things tomorrow morning for the stockings and then I will be done. I have never been this far behind with the shopping. Thank goodness my wife did most of it this year or I would be screwed.

I have two gift certificates to purchase and then I will be done. One I can't get until tomorrow as it is from an establishment in Tiffin, Ohio. The other is for my in-laws who celebrate Chanuka, so I have all of next week for that one....

I only have one more person to buy for, a friend of my sister who gets me a gift every year even though she doesn't have very much money. Is cash totally inappropriate?

Gift certificates are the best thing in lieu of cash...it's not nearly impersonal as just giving money, although that's essentially what you're doing, and in fact is limiting the gift to the shop that the certificate is for. Both my kids asked for gift certificates to Starbucks and some clothing stores...easiest shopping you can do.
