Archie Griffin's nephew stabbed

Associated Press

<!-- begin body-content -->YPSILANTI, Mich. - Eastern Michigan defensive back Tyler Griffin, the nephew of former Ohio State running back Archie Griffin, was stabbed in the abdomen during an altercation outside an off-campus apartment.

Griffin, 19, was at the apartment Thursday night when an argument broke out, the Washtenaw County sheriff's office said. After the altercation moved outside, a man stabbed Griffin before fleeing.

Griffin, a freshman from Columbus, Ohio, was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released Friday. Authorities were seeking a suspect, but no one has been arrested.

Reached by telephone Saturday, Griffin declined comment. His uncle, Archie Griffin, is the only college football player to win two Heisman trophies.
