Neither my 5S nor my iPad will consistently check e-mails now that I've upgraded both to iOS8. Both will with regular frequency keep asking me to re-enter my account passwords and then not accepting them once I enter them. Interestingly it only seems to happen on WiFi. Anyone else seeing anything similar?
I've been lucky in that it doesn't prompt me for passwords, but it doesn't check e-mail often at all. I'll get an e-mail on my PC and won't get it on the iPhone until an hour or so later. I used to get e-mails on my iPhone before I got them on my PC (IOS 7 and earlier). I have a 5S also, but hopefully my 6 will arrive within the next few weeks.

Thanks MD. Unfortunately. Apple's no longer permitting the downgrade. Looks like I'm stuck with an underperforming 4s for a while. Sucks ass.

Damn, that sucks. When can you upgrade?

I got the 6 (64GB)....love it so far. Hell of an upgrade from my 4 lol.

It's more tricky than navigating pop-up's.. downgrading without a SHSH Blob saved somewhere is impossible to do. I've been down that rabbit hole.

What the hell is that you ask?

SHSH blob is a jargon term for a small piece of data that is part of Apple's digital signature protocol for iOS restores and updates, designed to control the iOS versions that users can install on their iOS devices (iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, and Apple TVs), generally only allowing the newest iOS version to be installable. Developers interested in iOS jailbreaking have made tools for working around this signature system in order to install jailbreakable older iOS versions that are no longer being signed by Apple.[1][2]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHSH_blob

iFaith will downgrade you, but if you don't jailbreak, odd's are you don't have your blob anywhere to do so with.

I can upgrade through work sometime in January or February (or any time thereafter). My original intention was to give my wife this 4s so we could be on the same platform. But the functionality of the phone right now would drive her insane.

Not quite that adventurous. Thanks for the info though.
I just wish in retrospect that I had looked into this more before "up"grading to the iOS8. :shit:

Mine has been sitting at Honolulu IAP sort facility since early last night, and still didn't make it out for afternoon delivery (my house is only15 miles way). Better show up tomorrow...

Yeah I saw your posts on FB last night....that would drive me nuts lol.

Who is your provider? You might try going in to store & seeing if they'll upgrade you early. My mother in-law has Sprint and wasn't eligible for an upgrade until early December & they let her upgrade early without an additional fee. It's worth a shot....

Sorry for being ambiguous with my statement. When I said "upgrade through work", I meant that I have a cell phone, because of my employment. There's a 2+ year situation with each phone. I will have had this 4s two years this coming Jan/Feb. I can then follow up with my employer about getting a new phone. But I may take in the 4s after that to a local Verizon or AT&T and see what they can do for my wife.

Got a 6+ this week. So far, I love it. Screen is beautiful. I put a TechArmor Ballistic Glass screen protector on (purchased from Amazon through BP affiliate store); worth the $10 (easy install and crystal clear). I like the big size, fit in my jeans pocket okay, makes reading easy. Definite improvement of camera and speaker from the 5. Battery is outstanding. My 5 was running out of battery after about 3-4 hours of heavy use and about 6 max. I haven't recharged since initial charge on Wednesday, and still have 15% (letting it completely drain). I used a number of tweaks from this article, which seem to help the battery: http://www.zdnet.com/how-to-improve-your-iphones-battery-life-updated-for-ios-8-7000014902/.

I'm on Verizon and did Edge plan. I was upgrade eligible, but with a 10GB plan, I'm actually going to save money over the next two years (worth doing the math), especially with trading in my old phone. The 64GB phone costs me $35 a month, but knocks $25 of my data bill. That means I'm really only paying $240 for the phone and $40 if you subtract the $200 trade-in on my old phone. Would have been $100 more with a contract and would have to pay up front versus no interest spread over 2 years. Edge allows you to upgrade early, but loose your trade-in.
