And apparently, Ginn wouldn't start at Hawaii...:tongue2:

Owens is a superb returner, and also has 4 TD returns this year, but has been returning punts all season, so that's the only reason why I can see him getting picked over Ginn...Owen's average is 12 1/2 yards per return less than Ginn's.

Don't you think the reason is maybe because Ginn's a freshman, while Owens is a senior? I think that's the explanation--and I think the AP realizes Ginn will be on the list again.

Congrats to Nuges, Hawk, and Ginn!

I've yet to understand the fascination people have with Marlin Jackson and Earnest Shazor. They're decent players, but first team AA ? I'm not so sure about that.
I hate michigan with a passion, but can at least understand the decisions.

Shazor made a ton of big plays at the beginning of the season and provided the one time they won by defense in a close game (purdue).

Jackson is a good player, and I'm sure his statistics are pretty good if you consider the big 10 this year. Usually MSU has one to two dangerous receivers (This year's guy was about 3'2", and they were dangerous on the ground instead). Iowa had horrendous balance and Purdue struggled to pass like they have in years past. Wisconsin wasn't on their schedule, and I bet the experts would cut both of them some slack considering the offensive powerhouse that surfaced on the 20th.

Shazor is a good player that has made some big plays. Not sure if he deserves to be first team all american, but realize that has been OSU's spot in recent years and our safeties obviously weren't around much this year. But realize that he's a decent coverage man, and played like a linebacker in the secondary at times forcing fumbles and rallying their defense.

Having seen very little non-big10 action I can live with Jackson (and youboty was too recent of an addition to make the team in their minds). Shazor seems to have won the honor for a good year coveragewise, plus gamebreaking tackles and leading the defense. I'd put Jackson in, not shazor.

Though if he hadn't made these AA teams he'd be more likely to come back next year. Couldn't hurt to weaken that secondary a little more.

I'm surprised that Bobby Carpenter didn't get more recognition... there is no doubt in my mind the pros know all about him... I thought he was just fabulous... and worst would be 3rd team...

And I'm trying to like Owens, Hawaii... he is certainly as tough as nails and very quick but he's only 5'6" in his spikes with his helmet on... he's a waterbug... but that ref homer job in the Hawaii-MSU game was so abysmal that I'll never be able to view anything to do with U of Hawaii favorable again... makes me wonder how much of Owens stats are gained from homer calls or non-calls...

Pro Fooball Weekly AA Team Announced

Nugent and Ginn were also just named to the Pro Fooball Weekly All America First Team. Hawk received honorable mention.

**Neither of the Michigan DBs were named to the All America First Team--both were honorable mention.

It's great to see these guys get the respect that they are due. I just hope next year we can have some All-American linemen. Offense or defense. Nice to see the returning Heisman winner only get 3rd team.
