Anyone been to a game at Camp Randall?

Try not to trip on the beer cans lining the streets, and pretend not to hear the shouts if you're asked to "judge a hard-on contest."

It can get pretty bad (and my trips there weren't even the OSU games), but avoid the more obvious groups of idiots and it should be fine.

so what your saying is go with a more low key look. leave the facepaint at home LOL. Comparing my ticket to their seating chart I'm a little relieved Im near the top of the section so I don't have to worry about things coming down on me from the upper decks hahaha

From what I've heard Wiscy and Penn St are the most dangerous places for opposing fans. I've had relatives that have been chased back to their car in Madison and they were 60 at the time. Asshole fans are out of control.

Everybody has a different experience. I had no problems at Penn State in '07 (but I have seen the beer tossing video).

At Iowa in 2006 the fans in the stands were cool - I think it helped that I knew a lot of things about Nile Kinnick than the people around me didn't - I was asking them Kinnick trivia questions before the game started. :tongue2:

But outside the stadium, before and after the game, some Hawkeye fans would yell and get in the face of Buckeye fans who were just walking down a street or in a parking lot.

I've heard bad things about Wiscy, but in 2008 I didn't see any Buckeye fans having problems. There was definitely a lot of serious drinking going on, but I didn't see anybody seriously hassling Buckeye fans.

I was wondering how crazy it gets there? I just picked up my student endzone seat and I'm looking for tips :). Do they really load up marshmellows w/ pennies?
...VERY CRAZY. I don't think they load up anymore on marshmellows w/pennies, but definitely plenty of Old Style! :drunks:

...avoid anyone not wearing scarlet and gray. Do make sure you spend a good portion of your day at State Street Brats. My wife and I spent the day there before the 2003 game with about 1/2 the crowd Buckeyes.

...assaulted walking to the stadium in 2003. And then Lee Evans assaulted Chris Gamble on an out and up right in front of us for the game winning touchdown. :(

In summary, I will never again make the trip to Madison for gameday. Madison itself is a great town, but Camp Randall, no thanks.

Yep! Batteries too. They told us in the locker room when we headed out and back in not to look up at the crowd to prevent anything from getting through your facemask and hitting you in the face. Needless to say, one our guys got hit with a beer bottle! Lots of marshmellows with pennies and nickels were lauched at us. Coming out in the tunnel before the game was something I'll never forget. It was a chain link fence with a canope. Students and fans were bent down to where they could yell, spit and throw anything on us or at us.

Craziest place I've even been!

Their bleachers collapsing during the Michigan game was karma!

you guys are making me want to sell my ticket . On the Buckeye Roundtable show I heard Dustin Fox say they were told to keep their helmets on for the whole game because of stuff being thrown at them.

Did I say I'd never again make the trip to Camp Randall for a game? Never sure is a long time. What I meant was I'd never make the trip unless I have the opportunity to buy a ticket from a fellow B'per.

Your advantage is that if you decide to wear a scarlet jersey you'll look so much like a Wisconsin fan from a distance that you might be able to avoid a lot of trouble :shake:
