Anybody ever had a concussion?

I had one my senior year of high school. To make a long story short, I got in a fight with my older brother and he knocked me the f&ck out. I got my payback a couple of years later though....:box:

Me too. I got elbowed during a basketball game. Had some really strange memory loss. Forgot how to drive a stick shift for a day...Recent (day or so) memories felt like a dream instead of reality...Also I only saw in black and white for a half hour or so...

TG05, a concussion is nothing to fool around with. It means that you have injured your brain (we will avoid the obvious comments given your condition). You could still have internal bleeding in your brain, as is the case with Israeli Ariel Sharon.

So, don't play around. You will have to take it easy and not jar your head for a few weeks.

I had six concussions, the most recent being more than thirty years ago. Two playing football, two playing basketball, and two in car accidents.

My memory is that it is not uncommon to have hellacious headaches for a couple of days.

If you have any continued dizziness with this concussion, then speak to your family doctor.

Oh, and next time, when the wall is coming your way, duck or tuck!

One of my college buddies was on the wedge of the KO team for us. About once a season he would get a concussion. You always knew when it happened because he would start running backward on the kickoff and catch the ball rather than block. He doesn't remember ever catching a KO and he probably did it 3 or 4 times over the years.

I had one at 11 years old. I jumped from a moving vehicle and did about 7 somersaults on the pavement.

Damn lucky to be a live.

I had another in the Marine Corps during a training exercise. I was jumping into a ditch in 29 Palms carrying a SMAW. the SMAW caught the other side of the trench and hit me in the mouth. I landed head first at the bottom of the trench and weapon landed on my head. I kept going, but probably shouldn't have. It was a live fire exercise. Before it was over, I sent nearly 2000 rounds down range with our teams SAW. Luckily, it was to the right place.

I've suspected Teddy of concussions weekly since he joined .. how else could you explain his posts?? .. :biggrin:

Twice - once playing football in HS (helmet to helmet) and once boxing about five years ago (I was an amateur sparring a soon-to-turn pro. Wont ever do that again).

Both were pretty mild - just some light sensitivity for a few hours and a mild headache.

The doctor said it was a very mild one, if not a concussion at all. It really sursprised me that they didn't do a CAT scan(sp?), but the doctor said it wasn't really neccessary.

I'm feeling much better right now. Just a head ache. I'm starting to think to myself that it wasn't a concussion.

I'm going to swim in a meet tommorow. So hopefully that will go over good.

But I'm going to take it easy for now. Can never be too sure about head injuries.

My buddy in high school got one a crack back play and had to where a double bubble helmet the rest of the year. He was actually knocked out cold on the field. They took him to the bench with snot bubbles. It was a pretty hard hit!

One of our guys(Anthony Durr) on the punt return team gave a guy(on East's team, who was on the punt team) a severe concussion. He totally laid the kid out. What happened next was wierd. He stood up(the east player) and woobled about 15-20 yards down the field and just colasped on the field. He laid there for 25 minutes while the squad came. I walked over and he didn't even know where he was. They asked him what he "thought" he was playing and he said tennis.

I have the clip on our highlight DVD. If I can figure out how to cut it out and post it on here then I will.

I had a concussion my 8th grade year playing Lacrosse. On the face off I was on one side of the field the kid was on the other. He ran from his side all the way to the middle of the field fullspeed. When I got to the middle of the field and went to pick up a ground ball, he was still running and hit me in the head. Knocked me out for 3 games...I was Pissed!
