Any Hummer H2/H3 Owners?

I am thinking of purchasing a Hummer H2 or H3 - do any of you own either of these? If so, what kind of experience have you had with your car? Thanks in advance....

I'm not an owner, and as mentioned in the "weirdest stuff seen while driving" thread a couple of days ago" my experience is limited to nearly being killed by a barrel rolling H2: Two observations:

1. They flip more easily than regular cars (duh, I know).

2. If you ever get in a rollover accident you want to be in an H2 because the one I encountered rolled sideways about twice at highway speed and neither the H2 nor the driver seemed to be significantly damaged.

The folks running it were originally from Jeep... Jeep spun it off and eventually GM picked up the distribution rights (don't know if GM owns them outright or just the distribution rights???)... at any rate, jeeps are known for electrical problems (I've owned a couple, I can tell you first hand it is true... have others that have had electrical problems... consumer reports said the same thing{have not checked in years, things might have changed})... back to the point, the original design team came from the same folks designing jeeps... prob. not the case anymore, but might have electrical problems down the road...

As stated above, they aren't big on the inside... there is a lot of room shoulder to shoulder, however there really isn't too much leg room. The back seat is tighter than you might think.

the inside isn't luxury at all... very "GM like"...

The tires are huge!! I have no idea what it would cost to replace them, however I can tell you they aren't the $100 a tire variety...

Not sure what motivates you to purchase the car (the looks, power, interrior, etc.???)... look around, check out the competition before you sink that much into the car (although I understand you can get "resonable" lease rates, because they hold their value well)....

It drives/rides like a truck... a buddy at work has one... ask a question and I'll get an answer for you... (fwiw, he really likes his)...

My dad has a 2004 Hummer H2 and he likes it. I've gotten to drive it a couple times and it is a nice ride. I've never heard complain about any repair issuses with it. For my money I would take the the new Escalade over the H2.

My friend rebuilds wrecked cars. He mostly does envoys and tahoes, but he has done a few H2's. He rebuilt 2 last year for people they were 2004 with less than 4k miles. He sells them for around $27,000. The resale will probably suck, but you can take that into the consideration with the savings on the pruchase

A lot better vehicles out there than an H2. I think they scream "Hey everybody look at me, I'm an idiot who pays more for gas than all of you combined." Plus they look a little gawdy. Like someone earlier mentioned, a Range Rover would be a better bet for your money but that's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

My wife is looking for a new car but she has no interest in the H2 or H3. We have read a great deal and spoken to quite a few folks about as many brands as possible. My neighbor is in the high end used market and is not a fan of the Hummer line. I know the H2 suffered in initial quality ratings. It has as mentioned a GM interior which to me looks cheap.

Be wary of the ones with the spare tire mounted externally. Some have the door supporting the weight of the tire and it was not meant for that. It needs to be supported by the bumper.

It does not have all the capability of the H1 but the H2 does have some get you out of trouble traction options. I think the H3 is really a dressed chevy trailblazer?

Let us know what you decide.

Guy I work with has the baby Hummer (H3). Rode in it quite a few times, moved some stuff as well. Ok cargo room in the back. Kinda small room space area, but then again I'm 6'2" 280 so most cars have small room space. Not hateful on gas he said he gets about 16 mpg but mostly city miles. He says his biggest complaint with the H3 is all the blind spots. He traded in his Chevy 2500 crew cab that only got about 8 mpg, so he's very happy with the gas bill. Which the H2 has the same engine and rear end that the truck had. So you can expect 8 mpg roughly for the H2.
