Another Wonderful Florida Driver

LoKyBuckeye

I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
I saw this on the news last night and they had more info than the story.... basically this old guy hit a homeless man and then drove over three miles with the body hanging off his windshield. The only reason he was stopped is because he was stopping to pay a toll to get on the Sunshine bridge... if not for that who knows how far he would have driven. They said on TV that the guy thought the body fell from the sky.

Man Dies In Hit-Run; Body, Car Leave Scene
Published: Oct 20, 2005

ST. PETERSBURG -- Police were investigating a hit-and-run Wednesday that involved a man slamming through the windshield of a sedan.

The driver was stopped at the southbound Interstate 275 tollbooth of the Sunshine Skyway, police said.

The man had been hit more than three miles away at 46th Avenue South and 34th Street South, police said. He apparently was struck by the car while crossing 34th Street. The impact severed one leg and wedged him through the windshield.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the car pulled into a middle tollbooth lane where motorists pay $1 to cross the bridge.

Police said the driver was detained and an a ambulance was called. The driver, identified only as an elderly man, was taken to a hospital.

The dead man is thought to have been a transient, police said.

It was unclear whether the driver would be charged.

Two toll lanes were closed as police investigated the crash, with the car covered by a white sheet. Traffic used the other lanes.

Officers examined evidence where the man was struck. A white sheet covered the leg, and an officer collected two mismatched shoes.

First, he was pissed that the wiper fluid and his wipers could not clean his windshield properly.
Second, he got more pissed when his passenger wouldn't pony up his half of the toll! I mean 50 cents is 50 cents after all - especially when you're on a fixed income.

i've lived in florida (north palm beach) for the last three winters, and i can attest to the fact that florida drivers are some of the worst drivers in the nation.

furthermore, if you own a civic and are upset by the exceedingly high insurance premiums, it's those damn modified civics, which are EVERYWHERE in florida, that are the reason. i nearly bought a civic a handful of years ago, but i was quick to find another model due to the surprisingly high insurance premiums.

What was not known was that the driver was a Florida State fan and the man on the windshield was a Miami fan. If you've ever seen that ESPN commercial when the one old guy(Auburn fan) is walking along the hallway and next thing you know he falls down, and it shows a bama fan walk past and get a smile on his face then you know what i'm talking about.
