Another sign that baseball players aren't real athletes...

golfers aren't athletes

I'm sorry BN27 but I totally don't respect that comment whatsoever. Golf requires just as much if not more than any other sport. Just because it does not require running doesn't mean it's not a sport. I have trained for over 16 years to be a good golfer and have put in just as much time as any other athlete of any other sport (till I got to college). Part of me wants to rip you a new one for saying that because I'm sick and tired of people saying stupid shit like that, but I don't flame in public or on here.

What's your handicap?

Are you on the OSU golf team?

plus I have more rep than you

relax. there is skill involved in golf. i suck at it and admire people who are good. my best golf talent is being able to wrap a club completely around a small tree. but you aren't an athlete if you can do whatever it is you are doing while drunk, fat, or both

It depends what you consider athletic. Do you have to be athletic to hit a ball straight? No. To hit it far? No.

Requires just as much as any otrher other sport ? Requires what? Skill ? Yes.
Athleticism? No. They can be, but it's not necessary and certainly not as important as you believe.

I just draw the line between athletic and skillful.

You trained for 16 years and you were only an 8? That's a lot of training for such a high number. Did you take lessons the whole time or just play?

Rep is insignificant, I have never been afraid to speak my mind and take a heavy ding for it, probably why I am only 15 or so people back from you anyways.

To respond to both of you...you have fat people in other sports as well. David Wells, Gilbert Brown, just to name a baseball and football player. Both are successful in their own sport and are generally referred to as athletes. Yes there are people in golf like the Walrus who are fat as well, but generally all of the top golfers are in shape. This is the case in all sports. I have fat friends who will run and play football or baseball or whatever probably as well as many fat men playing golf. I don't see your arguments as being valid. There are exceptions to every rule, but generally most athletes are in shape, golf included

nice examples. pitchers aren't really athletes either, and linemen are athletes because of their strength, so fat ones don't really discredit their athleticism. In fact, because Gilbert Brown is so fat, that proves he's an athlete for what he has to do on the field.

Golf on the other hand can be played by 80 year old women.

PS - I was joking about the rep, I don't put that much stock in it.

Most 80 year old women are about as good at golf as football. If you shoot a 120 or above for 18, that's about as good as going 3/20 throwing the football, and my 81 year old grandmother could do that.

About the rep thing...I know I was messing with you too

You think an 80 year old woman could take the ball from the center and complete 3 passes out of 20? Hell I'd be amazed if she got 3 passes to go past the LOS

Phil Michelson has tits as big as Amato's.

Well, that's beside the point.

Sure, most of the pro's are, but I know dozens of fat people that shoot in the 30's regularly.

Skill is much more important in golf than being athletic.

No doubt. It probably takes more skill to play golf than football/baseball/basketball. But I probably think that way because I lack any golfing talent whatsoever.
