ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Even if Tennessee jumps over us, we should be able to jump back with a win over Spartans. And anyway, I think TN will lose one more game for sure.

Florida, Georgia, Va Tech need to lose in the next few weeks and hopefully ASU can beat USC this weekend.

Tennessee lost by 9 to a top 5 team on the road.
We lost by 3 to a top 5 team at home.
Tennessee beat a top 5 team in OT on the road.
We beat a top 25 team by 25 at home.

Our loss to Texas isn't that far off of Tennessee's loss to Florida. Texas is a better team than Florida, and the game was closer, but it was also at home for us and on the road for Tennessee. Tennessee barely beat #4 LSU on the road...we killed #21 Iowa at home. So if you look at scores, we are fine, but if you just look at W-L, Tennessee looks better.

Tennessee has played a much tougher schedule so far than we have, they are 2-1, and we are 3-1. If we hadn't blown out Iowa, i'd say Tennessee might even deserve to be ahead of us, but since we did blow out Iowa, I say Tennessee doesn't deserve to be ahead of us, but do deserve to be darn close, maybe even tied.

If Tennessee is ranked ahead of us, I wouldn't go nuts about it. It's going to be close, and I think later in the season we will gain votes over them. I think there are valid points to rank them ahead of us.

All that said, if you watch Tennessee play, and you watch Ohio State play, it's OBVIOUS that Ohio State would beat Tennessee...and that is why I would rank Ohio State over Tennessee...but some voters won't see it that way :(.

You guys need to calm down and let the season play out. Wasn't it just last week that you were worrying about Louisville and how they were ranked compared to you? Who knows, maybe Tennessee has a letdown against my boy Eddie O this Saturday.

Let the teams play a few more games before getting agitated over positioning.

Do you really think the voters put as much thought into it as you just did? Ohio State is getting a lot of love for the way they stomped Iowa, and it will show in the polls. Tennessee has played exactly one (1) quarter of dominating football this year.

It's all in the mathematics...

Ohio State defense + offensive production + win out= good chance of playing for NC

Don't forget the press may pick up the story that Ohio State lost to Texas because its quarterback was playing his first game after serving a suspension, if we start pasting teams in the top conference in the country this year.

Tennessee did not have a "reason" to lose to Florida, who was learning its new offense under Urban Meyer.

Ohio State had a reason to lose. If the offense starts putting up points and we bury good Big Ten teams, we will make it.

Unless Minny and Michigan State step up to where scUM and Iowa were supposed to be this year, I don't see the Big Ten being the best conference.

Other than that, I agree with everything that you just said. You might want to factor into the equation the turd that UT put down against UAB vs. the turd that we laid down against SDSU that still led to a three touchdown win.

Let me preface this post by saying that I think we deserve to be ahead of Tennessee in the polls. I watched that game, and UT in the first half looked like a team that didn't even deserve to be in the top 25, whereas we pounded a good (but not great) Iowa team and made them look like they're not even in the same class as we are.

However, unfortunately, I think UT will jump us in the polls, and here's why.
The fact that the game was moved to Monday night hurts us. If the game would have been played on Saturday night, their performance would have been matched up against our crushing win against Iowa, in which case I think the pollsters realize that we are the better team, as we didn't look bad for a half, as did UT. However, the pollsters are, at the end of next week (assuming a UT win, if they play) going to think that they have to reward UT for the big win against LSU, which they haven't done yet. That fact, coupled with the fact that we do not play (which will temporarily put us out of the heads of those idiot pollsters), will elevate UT ahead of us, I think.

That's my analysis. I hope I'm wrong. I honestly think we're the better team, and I hope what I wrote doesn't come true.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
